The computer will probably re-detect the card but will then go off an re-install the sfp drivers using the inf file already installed on your computer. As far as the SFP application software, you shouldn't need to re-install.

If I plan on swapping board's slots, I first delete the boards from Device Manager. This makes sure the boards are properly re-detected. Once the devices are reinstalled, SFP should open just like before...

at0mic has a good point there, i moved my network card around once (irq-issues) and device manager displayed it as "3com network card #2" , "3com network card #3" and so on.
so remove the cards in device manager, switch pci, turn on computer, rock on!

This sounds like old Win98 crap to me. I've moved cards around before, and XP never had a problem. No, I'm not using ACPI. What OS are you using?

turning 'show all devices' on in dev manager can reveal many interesting positions if you don't delete stuff...
