I remember reading somewhere that XP SP1 is slower for audio than the original XP. I never installed SP1, and I'm thinking about doing it now, but I'm not sure if it will affect audio performance in a negative way.

Any thoughts?

i had xp sp1 on my pc once (using w2k sp3 now). i didnt have any performance problems running sx, sfp etc. imo it's not really needed, have a read of the list of fixes - it's mainly security, networking stuff. if you have 'norton ghost', image your drive and then install sp1. If there's problems roll it back with the image.

In my case, I just noticed greatly improved stability when installed SP1. Then i was using Abit KG7-Raid though.

I've never had any problems after installing SP1. I installed it right after it came out.

Of course I haven't noticed any changes for the better either....
