I am putting together a new DAW to put a PowerPulsar and Pulsar2 card in. Since this forum contains a lot of experience and knowledge, I just thought I would describe what I am going for and then let anyone make any comments.
19" rackmount case, 4U (ChiefTec UNC-410S). I can't see that I could fit everything into a 2U box.
Using the 340W power supply that comes with the ChiefTec (I might look at an Enermax later on to replace it). But 340W should be enough, right?
ASUS P4PE (w G-LAN, RAID, FW) - I was thinking of waiting for the P4G8X, but tests run by Toms Hardware doesn't really show that much of a performance gain. And people sound happy with the P4PE so I think I 'll choose that. I don't really intend to use the RAID option but it seems I kind of have to go with that one to get LAN and FW.
2,533GHZ P4, 533MHZ FSB - might move up a notch depending on prices.
2x512MB DDR PC2700 - I can't make any major use of PC3200 memory with the P4PE, can I?
2xIBM 180GXP 120GB - I know some ppl like to refer to these as "IBM Death Star" but I haven't had any problems and plan to stay with IBM disks. However, they are ATA/100 - are their reasons to go for ATA/133 disks instead (like MAXTOR DIAMONDMAX PLUS-9)?
I haven't decided on graphic card yet - I have an open question in the dual head thread in this forum. As it looks right now, I am choosing between GeForce4 Ti4200 or a Matrox Parphelia. Primary problem is that I want to support dual head with 1600x1200 over DVI and 1280x1024 over VGA.
ok, I'll stop it there, cause rest of the stuff isn't really related to my DAW performance.
Thanks for listening.

Comments on my configuration?
I have a GeForce 4 4600 and i run my monitor on 1280*1024 and i have the TV connected with 800*600, so you should be able to do that with the Geforce card.
Otherwise it looks like a really nice setup.
I'd go for Seagate Barrcudas, just for the noise levels.
I too have a IBM which i had no problems with what so ever.
