While "hunting" for mic preamps....
(check it out)
URL: http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... forum=31&7

....i find myself looking at alot of "Voice proccessing" gear and compressors....etc..etc

I am uppgrading everything for the new studio and a new "Voice proccessor" / compressor is also relevant.

Iv'e been looking at TLA Adio's gear and find that many proffessional studios use the FAT 1 aka. FATMAN.
URL: http://www.sospubs.co.uk/sos/apr00/arti ... t_news.htm

Does anybody here have experience with this machine ?

And of course....i am also looking at DBX's gear (i love those machines) and does anybody have any opinions about the DBX 166xL
URL: http://www.dbxpro.com/166XL.htm

I used to own a 266XL wich is a very very
cheap and easy to use "all-pourpuse" tool.
It made alot of things better and sounded great (for being soo damned cheap).

or the DBX Pro Vocal ?

(This one seems quite amazing...makes me drewl)

Bring me your thaughts !!!

Sincerely yours Jngaelin

the dbx166 is a good quality inexpensive studio standard.i like the limiter very much.i suggest just getting a real nice pre(no bells and whistles, just audio quality),since there are so many nice tools whith in sfp and natively.well, a good limiter just for safety's sake is a good thing, but separates as opposed to an all in one would be more flexible and useful in the long run.

just an opinion!

I don't have much experience with analog hadware, but I had the chance to master one of my old tracks at a professional studio about a year ago, and the main compressing tool was the FATMAN compressor.

The device is cheap and has no Attack/Release knobs (only a 'fast/slow responce' button), but it can still produce an impressive output considering its cost.

I was pleased with the final product (a significant improvement of a poor original), so make sure to give it a try when you go out shopping. It's useful, and can always be routed as a channel insert if you'll buy (or already own) a more massive dynamics-control device.

You do mean the DBX 166XL ?
i think you do....yes you do

I agree.
A all in one will be more usefull in the long run.
But time passes and i will buy me more gear (more expensive gear).
So for now.....i have to make the right decision......
Thanx for you'r input garyb !!!

I've been looking at a "All-in-one" toll fron ART.
The ART TUBE CHANNEL
URL: http://www.riksmusic.com/art/tube_channel.htm

....but i can't deside wether i want it or not.
I have read alot of rewiews about it and half of them totally diss the TUBE CHANNEL...and the other half treats the TUBE CHANNEL from ART like a GOD !!!

Does anyone have experiences with the TUBE CHANNEL machine ?

I still have my eyes on the FAT-1...
Thanx for bringing me you'r opinion about it ds-sound !!!

Keep bringing me the good stuff people !!!
You'r opinions will help create my new studio

err, yeah,166. i fixed THAT tho!

but, i said that SEPARATES were more useful in the long run, because in the future you may want to use the limiter with a DIFFERENT pre or vice versa. they allow you to not only bypass, but not have one part or the other even NEAR each other.

i suspect that what's best may be what's more USEFUL and that's a slippery subject, subject to change with mood and season.or financial status(which is changeable).

what's best depends on what YOU need though, and i guess you know.

SíberianSun: man tackar

garyb:
Ops....then i was misstaken.

Well before last night i had been 3 days overdue for my sleep
Imagine what the brain can make you think when you are that tired

Yes i doo know what i need....and now after a few hours of sleep...
I have desided to buy the gear i am interested in and use it.
Then i'll log on to the web and post my findings to all who wants to know my opinion.

I don't know HOW is was thinking last night...but having a ALL-IN-ONE tool would only be good for now (in the short ruuuun).
Thats what i'll get now.

But for the future...i'll get separate units for every task.
Logical....isn't it ? But yesterday i was a total JackAss....
Thanx for checkin on me garyb
I should sleep more.... but i find myself thinking...hey...surfin planetZ...thats mutch more fun than sleeping

We all have different taste in sound and durabillity....but we would definetly buy the same highly expensive gear if we all had that kind of money to spend =)

I dont doubt that for a second.
