nForce2 testing
Well, I just got myself one. The Epox 8RDA+.
So far all I can tell you is that those 3 Masterverbs I can load on my Luna are working as supposed to.
I'm having major problems with arranging IRQs however. It just doesn't seem to be possible to assign a (relatively) separate IRQ to the card. All PCI slots together with onboard peripherals and god knows what else, share only two IRQs.
I might have some more to say in a few days, as for now, if someone can tell me how to deal with the IRQs, it'd be very helpfull.
Get yourself an ASUS board though

i'm very veeery much interested in Epox board but i dont understand about that IRQ issue. did you disabled onboard shit, and how many PCI cards do you have beside Luna?
Well, they say that Windows (98SE in my case)
allways assign all PCI cards to just 2 IRQs, usually 5 and 11. And that's supposed to be OK. I was a bit worried, because I've got 4 PCI cards in there at the time, plus onboard LAN, Firewire, AC97, not to mention the ports and USB controlers... But they can all be disabled, as you said.
Modems and similar PCI cards don't belong into a DAW anyway and all Creamware expansion boards are ok sharing the same IRQ.
Furthermore I have to say that the new nForce2 boards are really cool for overclocking.
Everything can be done through BIOS. You only need an Athlon Thoroughbred (which is now also available in the quite cheap 1700+ version) and some good DDR and you can work miracles with it...

As i have said, disable all that unnecessary shit and enjoy you CW. Leave modem or some kind of Internet connection and get rid of everything else.
I've heard about nForce2 being good for OC but it would be better if someone could post some heavy MV load, and some impressions about using it for music production generaly.

Privatny, do you have any additional plugins, optimaster or anything?
How many tracks of audio you have driven with it?
I served 20 tracks of 24bit waves and my beloved Abit (VIA thingy) allowed me to use 0 MasterVerbs :lol
Also, I couldn't use any of logic fx neither
And Cubase often claims about PCI bandwidth errors during application startup... I desperately need a new MOBO/CPU and nforce2 being the strongest choice right now.

So far I've done the following:
Cubase VST 5.1;
16 stereo 16bit channels at 48kHz and 3 MV. This tops up those poor 3 DSPs that my Luna has. So you'll need someone with SCOPE to test it any further. As far as I now from past posts on this subject though, even the nForce "1" boards (after a BIOS update)were'nt so bad.
