Hi PulZarians
Can anybody tell me please if is it possible to get DDR 333 with this Mobo or MUST I go to DDR 266 instead?
System will be P4 2.53Ghz, Maxtor G550, XP and Luna+Pulsar SFP 3.1c.
Any other suggestions wellcome and I thank all usual help.
Is it possible Asus P4B533 with DDRam 333?
Zezappa,
I have this same board and I use DDR333, but for a different reason...
To answer your question, this board will not run DDR333 at full speed, only at 266. As far as I know, there are no bios settings that will allow this ram timing.
Now, I bought really high quality DDR333 because I could get it with CAS 2 memory latency. Going from CAS 3 timing to 2 is usually a 2% to 5% bump in performance in itself.
When I bought the P4B533, there were no full Intel boards that supported DDR333. If I were buying now, I'd get one of the new Asus boards still based on the 845 chipset, but one that supported DDR333.
A perfect example would be one of the Asus P4PE variants. These look like fantastic boards in the usual Asus style of quality and performance.

From my experience with running RAM at 100/133mHz, I would believe, that ddr333cas3 RAM should be able to work as ddr266cas2 RAM - no garaties though.

The P4B533-V works with DDR333. With the 1004 BIOS - you just choose the memory buss speed in BIOS.
AFAIK, it's only the "-V" though.
DDR333 will always run as DDR266. You're only asking better memory chips to run at a slower speed. They probably started life as the same pieces of silicon, but the DDR333 is guaranteed to run at 333MHz and the DDR266 is only guaranteed to run at 266MHz.
