Hi,
I´m working on resell-pc-systems for audio producion.
My question to you:
How much would you pay for a new high-end computer?
(Intel, Rambus, 1Gb RAM, CD RW, 2 HD 100 Gb / 8 Mb cache, without audio-interface.....)

thx,
andre

I would pay the right price
It's difficult to tell, it depends on what's inside, guarantees etc...
You should propose spare parts too, to allow update people setups (many do the assembly themselve, for cheaper prices).

..for shure its possible to set up a pc by yourself but I saw a lot of craping and expensive computers in studios. there seems to be people with 0% knowlage about how to set up an audio-pc but they are selling them.
I arranged a lot of computers for our (happy) clients in the past..
I´m shure an always up ot date "reference" system that can be bought is a good thing.
I only want to find a good price-area.

With study I can put togther a current good spec DAW here (Australia) for about US$1300 (no monitor). So that's what I'd pay (maybe a little more) for someone else to do it.

One of the issues here is exactly where on the "curve" of technology you stop. If you're willing to stay six or nine months behind the leading edge then you can slice a few hundred dollars off the price.

But I suspect that people attracted to such a service would expect the very latest last-week-released components.

a friend of mine, which owns a studio, recently bought a P4 2.4Ghz or so, 1GB ram 333, SCSI HD 18GB 15000rpm (i think, but is VERY fast), asus MoBo and don't know which video card, perhaps another HD ultra ATA 133.
without monitor he spent 1.300 euro, and it's a very pro-DAW
