I'm a newcomer to STS world (as SFP in general). With my Scope card was included an Ultimate Sample Collection CD.
I managed to copy some samples from that AKAI CD to my harddisk.
I load a few programs into STS and try to play, but there's no output.

Yes, all my cables are OK (a CW synth works) and yes, I have connected STS output to a mixer (and yes, it has volume other 0  )
What may be the problem?

I banged my head against the wall for a good hour trying to figure this one out. For me, it was a volume issue, but not in the mixer, within the STS sampler! If you look in the main window for the STS, you should see the number, whether or not it's stereo or mono, the midi channel number assignment, and for me (doh!) the volume level assigned to that channel, folled by pan, and others. To adjust the volume of the channel, left click and hold, drag the mouse either left/right or up/down (depends on your settings) and you should see the volume level raise or lower. On my AKAI samples I've noticed the levels were low to begin with, so I usually max your this meter, and then up the levels in the main mixer.

Other things to check, make sure your STS is recieving MIDI, and whether or not you've assigned the output of the channel to a single source on the mixer, or from the main outputs (L/R) to a stereo pair on the mixer.

Hope this helps!

The levels are up enough. And yes, the "led" is lit when I play my midi controller.
MIDI is set to "omni".

Something weird is going on.
I really did nothing to mention(loaded some programs, touched volume and pan faders) and accidentally it started to output!
I loaded different samples and everything seemd to work. Then, I loaded one other program and.. no sound. I loaded the same program that was working previously, and no output!

Had that happen to me lots of times. Make sure Programs->loudness, and settings->master gain is turned way up. Probably max.

Also, try unconnecting sts3000's MIDI, and connecting it again. That does it sometimes. This solves the issue of stuck notes and a plethora of other MIDI problems that CW cards have.

Also, instead of omni, select a specific channel, and trigger it accordingly. Sometimes that works too. Then, when you go back to omin, it miraculously works.

I'm not very familiar with the sample CD you're talking about, but if it's using the individual outs, you'll need to connect the appropriate lines. (the ones below LR out) And if it's using individual outs, you'll need to go to Additional (right under where it says STS3000), and turn up ind. level to max.

It's very, VERY confusing. I know... But it's just what they get for poor design and a humiliating GUI.. I manage to use lots of STS in my recent projects tho. Not bad if you get the hang of it.

Very confusing, indeed. I really did nothing, and right now everything works just perfect...

(And yes, I already had all the outputs routed to mixer)
