I'm so desperate that I cheapen to ask this here...

I just installed Win XP (because of Scope installation, which was such a story, you wanna hear? Am I the only one who needed screwdivers, clipper, claw, hammer, drill and violence to install a SCOPE card???) but I can't set my refresh rate. Or actually, I can set it, but it won't be set. All I get is 60hz. Not so nice.

Yes, I've installed newest drivers for card (ATI Radeon VE). Yes, I have set proper (well, not proper for a DAW, only 15", but..)monitor (Nokia 449Xa). I can select from the list of refresh rates 85Hz, but monitor (and my eyes) says it is getting only 60Hz. Why?

In case someone will had the same problem:
It is not enough to install the latest drivers, you also have to install latest "Ati control panel" and then Display Properties->Settings-Advanced will have some new tabs. Choose Displays -> Monitor and change monitor attributes according to your setup. Voilá!

I have the same card (ATI VE) and I´d like to get the DRIVERS without the software (control panel and that).
Cna you tell me how did you get that?
in the downloads page I can only get a ".exe" that installs everything, not only the driver.

THANKS!!

Interesting phenomenom, all original installations of XP have this issue. It is most prevailent in gaming, as that was what called it to attention in the first place. Microsoft for some reason locks the H refresh at 60Hz whenever a certain DirectX call is made at full screen, if you leave it in windowed mode, there is no change to the refresh rate. I have a feeling the Scope interface is being plagued by the same issues game developers are having. There are some solutions to this however -

1) Download and install SP1 for Windows XP, this will fix any issues with the refresh rate problems.

or

2) Check with your video card manufacture's drivers and find an updated one that will skirt the issues for XP. I know that ATI, Nvidia, and a beta Voodoo driver exsist and all will solve the problems.

DJATWORK, Do you really want drivers without control panel? You will stick with 60hz then. But if you want, this page has drivers and control panel separately :

Thank you very match spoimal!!!

I´d like to try them, because that control pannel suchs for me. I hate those "color controls" and things like that, wich I would never use.

I have a dual display setup, do you know if its possible to set the desktop to both monitors only with the driver?

thanks!

Yes, you can have dual display with only drivers. But I bet you'll have refresh rate of only 60Hz... which of course doesn't matter if you have two LCD displays...
