Mono vs stereo mixing

Hello to all. I 've read in the latest Computer Music that a lot of producers uses mono than stereo in most cases.
What do you use?

Mono, if possible, cause imaging after is easier. For example, a piano sampled with 2 mics (stereo), create phasing problems, and imaging is very very hard afterward...

music is noise thru time AND space - surround sound is even cooler.

Well, it depends! Obviously, if you like phasing

But it is true that i mix in stereo afterward everything, and even tried the small 'AC-3' tutorial found here in planetZ using the surround mixer to record 6 wavs file and later encode it in AC3, then created a audio cd with AC3 audio on it. I can read it back using my dvd player, pretty cool! But really hard to create a real mix with only 2 monitors. Not really ideal. Anyway, at least i know this work

phasing's cool. Just the right amount of it creates a roomy feel. Something that "professionally" recorded material often lack. But of course, you should stay away from massive cancellation.. (duh)

good argument for starting with (mostly) mono tracks......
