I'm about to buy a new PC (for my soon-to-be DAW) and think of following configuration:
- MS-745 ULTRA SIS 745 ATX DDR 333
- AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 1733Mhz TROUGHBRED
- 512Mb DDR 333MHz PC-2700

Any comments?

I don't have Pulsar yet and my question is, can I somehow test this config before I get the Pulsar? What are the best benchmarking testers?

Thanks.

You can not benchmark your way to a good Creamware setup. The most important part seams to be PCI-timing, wich - as far as I know - is not measured by any benchmark.

I have tried a sis735 based mobo, and it did not perform very well - even though it was said to have the highest PCI-bandwith.

The usual safe tip is to get a motherboard with a Pentium chipset. Those usually needs little to no tweaking to get working very good.

Yep, SiS735 is not good. But this MoBo has SiS745. If you read some threads, this chipset got some praises.

Then why not go visit your local retailer, and see if you can get one on a "works with pulsar or bring it back" basis.

That's exactly what I'm going to do.
The only problem is that I don't have Pulsar yet. And I should know somehow whether it is good mobo or not...
Maybe it's best to wait for Pulsar... and check what are available then.

Yep, you can't really have the chicken without the egg.

(Ps, lets not get into a debate about which came first)
