VCO
- 2 multimode oscillators (sine, triangle, saw up, saw down, square with pulsewidth control, and an external-in position)
- osc 2 can be variably synced to osc 1
- each oscillator can cross-modulate the other
- each oscillator has its own direct, ADSR, and LFO pitch control
- SUB (pulse with width control) oscillator + white noise generator

VCF
- two stage filterbank!
- filter 1 is a 24dB lowpass warm analogue-style filter with resonance control that can be used on its own or in-series with filter 2
- filter 1 has ADSR envelope control
- filter 2 is a resonant 12dB multimode (lowpass/ highpass/ bandpass) filter that can be switched on and off and used after the 24dB filter, in-series
- filter 2 features variable velocity + LFO modulation

VCA
- level control for each oscillator, SUB, and noise
- AMP envelope (ADSR)
- volume control

- global controls: coarse tune, fine tune, portamento/ glissando, pitch bend range

EFFECTS
- smooth chorus
- 5-second 'space echo' delay
- overdrive
- crusher effect (grainy distortion)
- mod-wheel controls pitch
- a ring-modulator that takes the output from filter 1 and modulates it with the output of filter 2 (whether filter 2 is on or off)

Are these really shareware devices...because...
Everything on all the devices you've uploaded...hmm..well it all works.

I thaught there would be a time limit on the devices or something ???

This is a true classic. One of the best softsynths out there, hands down!

Got to agree. I have been playing around with this one all weekend, and just love the crystal clear (or totally warped !) sounds. Beautifully designed, sounds great, and for now at least, its free (when I make my riches Mr Hummel will be HEARTILY re-imbursed. Thank you so much !

Got this one a while back and now rediscovering it's ability to totally mince sound and make screaming ruinous bass/lead patches. love it. Has to be one of the best devices out there

Just gone back to an old track (industrial-ish) two days ago and it was full of plastic. Very grungy/hard. i actually bought this when it was the full price and still think it's a good. i just wish there was an update to the new-style presets list (are you listening Stephen!), perhaps those wanting a updates for earlier wavelength devices could pay a nominal update fee, i know i would.

Same here. I'm at the point where I won't use anything with the old style presets anymore unless absolutely necessary.

yeah, got things working again... thanks for noticing!

Though I still must keep on learning lots about synths (...and too much atractive devices for such few time I can work on ), I'd like to say that Plastic gets my favourite sound and first one used synth from Stephen's.
As I get fine and more and more working on XTC, this would be a great improvement to get on wavelenght devices.

i've actually been working on an "uber"-plastic for some time now and the guts are basically finished .. now just working on the GUI stuff. it's a trip to revisit some of those ideas from a few years ago and build on them with my current experience and the newer SCOPE "atoms" to work with. with this new version I am really trying to achieve a balance between what made the original plastic sound so unique and efficient (+ GUI) DSP usage.

i guess now would be the time to ask you guys, what MUST be retained from the original for this new device to remain true to the spirit of the old beast? I've got my favourite features, but there are some things that I am considering changing or eliminating from the original design (you should bear in mind that I am also adding several new features that the original didn't include). now is the time to speak up and say what SHOULD NOT be changed from the original's specs.

I can't offer too much in the way of a technical commentary on what makes "Plastic" so great...but maybe you can translate some of my layman babble and make good use of it.

The first thing that appealed to me with the plastic was the incredibly aggressive lead sounds that it makes...exemplified by the preset "vel filter 2". One would be hard-pressed to name two self-contained synths that had half the balls.

Of course, the pads that this creature puts out are simply amazing...combined with the "Space Echo", you really get a full-room sonic texture at the press of a key.

If I had to try and put my finger on it, I'd say that what probably makes the "Plastic" stand out is the layout of the synth itself...not the GUI, mind you, but the actual "flow" of the sound from the synth.

Forgive me if that sounds ignorant, but it really seems to me that the order of processes that the sounds goes through is one of the biggest reasons that "Plastic" has such a consistently good sound, as well as ease of use. It just seems like all of the right options are in all of the right places...

If I might be so bold as to make a (tiny) request...I'd love to see more options to sync to BPM or fractions thereof. I guess that's almost standard now, but I just thought I'd ask...
