I would like to know what kind of video boards are you using succesfully with creamware. Please, don´t forget to write if this is a dual screen/multi monitor capable board.

Got 2 pc's with Matrox G450 Dualhead. Both have dual monitors.

Never had any problems with it, except for the initial time I had them. I liked to change display resolution, swap primary and secundary monitors etc etc and some programs would not be displayed properly. Now I rarely change the settings, and all works fine.

I'd not buy a G450 now, there's some more advanced models now. But I'd stick to Matrox.

Went back to a matrox dual G450 16MB after using a whizz bang nvidia dual card (you don't need huge amounts of video ram). I like the image quality of the matrox better (it's the filter configuration they use not the voltage levels). Also I like how they have two vga output connectors, and you don't have to use adapters. Cheers!

If you have the money, i would buy the Matrox Parhelia... Next generation of Matrox Dualhead (triplehead in this case).

I've got a G450, before i had a MarvelG400(with tv in/out, hardware video compressor to record fullscreen video in realtime), before i had a MarvelG200. My next card will be a Matrox also. They have the best driver, stability and also the best image quality, specialy if you use DvD movies on your PC.

2D of Matrox is still the one to beat, but they're very poor in 3D. This is not a gamer card.

My bet is, that for the same money, you can buy a g550 now and a Parfelia in 3months - gives you a spare card for trouble shooting.

I own an AGP Ati Radeon VE, 32 MB and DualHead. THe ATI SUpport told me that Bus MAstering can´t be disabled for ATI Video Cards. I think that it´s not true, but that´s what they say, so think it twice before buying an ATI Video Card. Now I´d like to get a Matrox...

I bought a Matrox 550 last week but haven't installed it as I'm just about to move cities...

btw: what happens when you hit "print screen" ?

I'm using a Matrox G450 32MB since it came out years ago.

Spirit, 'PrintScreen' copies the display contents to a buffer which can be pasted into a graphics program.

Spirit:

To Windows, you have only one desktop. IE: if you have two screens at 1024x768, windows sees this as a single desktop of 2048x768. It's your video driver that manages your screens.

The result is that, if you hit "print screen", you'll get a snapshot of your whole desktop(2048x768).

If you only want a snapshot of the active window, press ALT-Print Screen.

Does this imply you need both screens running at the same resolution? I ask this because I plan to migrate from single to dual monitor setup. The main monitor is a viewsonic 19" which runs at 1600x1200, the secondary monitor (which is not connected now) is a compaq 17" which can only run at 1024x768. Is the effect dependent on the video board I choose?
Hope you can give me some clues. TIA
Rob

No, your monitors can have whatever resolutions. I don't know if it's a case of video card / driver but at least Matrox G450 allows different resolutions for both monitors.

Thanks Redsun.

I've now installed my Matrox 550 and everything works beautifully with no tweaking needed. It's hooked to a Samsung 955DF 19-inch and a LG 995E 19-inch.

I'm running 3 x monitors, two on a Matrox G400max 32mb AGP and the 3rd on a 16mb TNT2 PCI. This works surprisingly well on an ASUS CUSL2-c mobo with a 1gig P3. I tend to run the Scope stuff on the 3rd monitor while Logic is across monitors 1 & 2. All 3 screens are 17 inch CRT's running at 1152*864.
The Parhelia looks very nice, but I'll wait for the price to drop before looking to get one......ditto with 17 inch LCD's..
