1632 Returns not working / no audible or visual signal

I ran a search on 1632 bugs but can not get a complete confirmation that the external returns don't work. I set the mixer to external aux return, plug my lightwave straight into the return, no sound or visual on the VU meters. Checked the manual to make sure i wasn't missing something. The 2448 returns work fine. Can anyone confirm that the returns (1632) are /are not working on their system.

Well I can get the external aux return to work if I put an effect in the insert slot of the return. Will have to bypass the insert effect to hear just the reverb though.

yeah a small dsp user would be a stereo expander or similar
