Is my burner that is gone or SFP drivers could have made this job?

I use Adaptec AHA-2940U2W as controller, this message is shown:

"Hostadapter error" when trying to start burnprocess with Nero

and burner goes crazy, red leds light firmly, not ejecting nor recognizing cds, then windows doesn't show cdrom icon in My Computer folder anymore, then I have to restart

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance
Fede

try reinstalling the latest aspi layers from adaptec.see if there's a driver update for the burner and the scsi card.something may have become corrupted in the install. reinstalling drivers may help.clean the registry when you're done w/reglean and/or easycleaner.
someplace to start.......

Any suggestions?
Uninstall SFP!!!!

Ok i'm being pedantic.
But that seems like the simplist solution at least to try to see if sfp has caused the problem.
CW can't honestly say that sfp is ready for any kind of semi-serious music work

Thank you guys, but this time I think it's not a CW problem, I've done all the necessary procedures, but still nothing, or better I found the problem of communication is present even in the bootstrap time, so cw shouldn't have anything to share with this.
That means I'll to spend money in hardware

Yes I did install aspi 4.7 and most recent drivers for adapter and latest firmware on adapter and cd-drives. I cleaned the lens and removed all dust I found inside the cdr-drive (I did a very accurate work) and got successful burning 2 cds more, but now it's like before...

I'll check cables and will try with another burner to understand if it is the burner or the SCSI controller, all this when I find a hour...

It works again!
I re-flashed the cdr firmware, now seems to work again, will it go on working also when I close the computer case? :???:

hmmm...hmmm...could it be something virus-like activity?
