Ofcourse their is the eds8i synth but I'm looking for a 'big'drumcopmuter. Does this excist for Pulsar?

Before I bought a Pulsar II I used Reason and their was a really nice drumcomputer inside. Easy to use and lots of sounds.

Is it wise to use Reason next to Pulsar to use, for exapmle, the drumcomputer (especially because I own Reason allready)?
And if it is, how do I connect Reason to Cubase/Pulsar. Does Reason use the Pulsar card?

This are several questions which I hope someone can answer.

Thanks.

There are a few drum modules on the modular download page and there is the SDS device which allows you to use your own samples. You could also use the STS sampler with Akia or SoundFont samples - The STS talk page has a good number of links for both these formats.
I hope this is of help

The drumsampler in reason is really suberb, mostly due to the massive numbers of different samples you can use. You can convert these samples to wav and use in pulsar. Reason exist happily with pulsar too, just run it through asio.

yeh its easy to use reason with pulsar and or cubase.

just select the asio driver from the audio settings inside reason, connect the asio module to a mixer inside the pulsar project to run only reason standalone without any other sequencer.

in order to use it with cubase you need to first start cubase and after its started you can just start reason, it will automaticly enable rewire and everything will be synced. you will be able to use reason as a soundmodule too, by playing reason synths from inside cubase.

check the manuals.

cheers,
sander

Thanx for you replies all.

My new problem with Reason is that it doesn't run under XP!

Never had troubles before but now my whole pc slows down. strange.

But I'll download the files mentioned soon so I won't be needing Reason anymore I hope.

I have Reaon, as Rewire Instrument in cubase and as ASIO guest, running smooth, real smooth  under XP. I go to about 80% on my dual PIII 1GHz beofre I get clicks. Lots of channels, lots of fx. Everywhere. And yet no finished songs
Try updating your Cubase again after Reason install, if you have no Rewire ports you can enable in Cubase.

How do you mean update Cubase after Reason install? (installing Cubase after Reason or is there some update?)

I have to restart my PC before he's start working normal  (it's a PIII 550mhz/448MB).

THANK YOU

Let me explain how I did install here:
-Cubase 5.0 from CD
-Reason
-Rebirth
-Cubase 5r2

I suspect when Cubase's installed, it's not really ready for Rewire sometimes. When my Rewire guests (Ra & Rb) are installed, I've given Cubase 5r2 a reason to install the Rewire facility, cos Ra & Rb are already installed now.

In theory, you should just install whatever you like first. But that's how I mostly do it. If you're experiencing problems w 'no Rewire channels to activate in Cubase' then do the 5r2 setup again, or the other highest update.

It's just PFM and voodoo, but that's how I do it. And that might be a solution for you.

Thanks!

I'm gonna try it soon!

Last time I installed Reason I had no Rewire channels left in Cubase. According to the manual the included patch should solve this...but not for me.

Can't wait to try your tips!

Don't expect miracles to happen

2 Rewire problems, 2 solutions:

1° Cubase has no, zero, Rewire channels to activate. Then update Cubase.

2° Cubase says 'not enough audiochannels': then reduce the amount of Reason reserved channels to 16 (by applying the patch in Reason folder) or decrease the number of audio channels.

Ie. your Cubase has a max. number of channels, depending on the version. Imagine you can load 64 channels. If you're using 32 Rewire-, 16 VSTi and 16 audio channels, you're on the limit. You will now have to remove one kind of channel to make a new one of the other type.
