Hi !

I guess my first Luna II card, which I bought ages ago, message me errors, died.
I got error messages like, "missing dsp0 to dsp1" or similar.
Didn't dig it into much, cause i'm in the middle of project.
I purchased new Scope 7 for my other Luna II card.
What I have also tried is to connect the same card into my second computer, where I also have 2 Luna II cards installed
and soon I added this Luna II with errors, I've got the same messages.
In Device Manager shows "This device working properly".
But soon I load Scope, there's this error message. On both computer the same.

So, i'd like to ask,
what are my options here.
I have Scope 7 driver/software attached to this card.
Can I transfer that version to other Luna II card, where I have Scope 5 installed atm or any other card which I still have ?

much of the time, that error is from bad filter capacitors on the card. you can try replacing them, if you have someone who can do surface mount soldering. it is rare that the dsp itself is bad.

otherwise, you can get your license transferred, but that involves taking the broken card out of circulation, either returning it to SC or destroying it with evidense of the destruction. support can help.

It‘s not exactly SMD soldering with these caps. A good iron with a fine tip will do the job.

You have to clean the pads from old solder, then tin the pads with the proper amount of new solder.
Tin the new cap connectors with a good amount of solder, but not too much.

If you position the cap on the pad and apply heat, both (pre)soldered layers will melt and mix.
It helps to bend the cap connectors a bit for easier access.

Or simply use non SMD caps with regular wires, made as short as your iron‘s tip allows to handle.

His prices are fair considering the market for used cards and the desire for good work to improve the longevity of your existing card(s). I've used him on 4 of my legacy PCi cards.
