Thought I would post this link here for the new sts forums
This utility is great for sample cd's that use audio format only files. For example, after ripping one of the sample cd's audio tracks, you have one large wav file that contains several individual snare hits and you want to extract and create an individual wav file for each hit to import into your sampler, this tool does it automatically for you quickly and easily.
The tool is called "WavKnife". It's free, and is near the bottom of this page:-

Wow... it's been AGES since I've checked Maz's page. Last time I checked was like when I downloaded Digitracker in highschool. hehe.
Great tool!

Not to put anyone down or anything but you can do this in Logic and Protools as well.
You probably can do it in Cubase and Nuendo too but i don't know as i don't use them.

Yes show us! The reason I posted this utility is that it is very simple to use and some people might not have this kind of functionality in their sequencer of choice. The batch processing is excellent and you don't need a manual to work it out.

Aaaaaaarrrrrggghhhh.
I was wrong!!!!!!!!
I hate that.
Iwas absolutley convinced that it could be done in Logic.
I even knew the page in the manual where i've read it.
I know for a fact though that it can be done in Protools.
You use the strip silence command.
But anyway, my deepest apologies for this error.
It won't happen again, you'd better believe it.

Not exactly, I'm afraid - this function divides a file into so called regions (logical parts of a file) not separate files....

As someone mentioned earlier somewhere on planetz, Recycle comes close.
