hello,
does anybody know if there is any technical reason for the choice of not producing 512MB cas2 pc133 unbuffered modules from crucial or mushkin and many othet companies?
it's said that a single module is faster than two, so i was looking for a 512MB stick for my tusl2-c.
any suggestion?

Once you get towards the 512mb+ stage memory modules should really have some sort of buffering or error checking, becuase the risk of data error (leads to crashes) is greater.

so the only way to run 512mb of cas2 unb. pc133 is to have two 256mb sticks?

I would use 2x256meg PC133 CAS2 Crucial/Micron on that system. Works great.

for the moment in rome i'm only able to find the mushkin rev. 3+, they are quite expensive and as i'm not planning to overclock i am in doubt if buy them or wait (but i'm burning inside to see my new machine at work). what benefit could they introduce in a 133 setting compared to rev.2 or crucial? if they do, i go tomorrow!

p.s. hey, i've put a modular2 called "amwald"
on planetz. it's a simple synth but i think that gives a very very large and powerful sound. i've done many, most or them do complex or funny things, but this one is the one i like more for it's sound....
oh! maybe i'm acting like my greek mother that was telling everybody "how clever and good is my son" and wanted everybody to say "oh yes!" and i was feeling really bad...

the rev3 mushkins are indeed very nice, but you will see zero advantages in a non-overclocked system (they do look cool with the heatspreaders on there, though!). Doesn't crucial.com ship worldwide? But you're right, ram prices are insane right now
finally, i will <font size+1>DEFINITELY</font> have to check your modular patch i am a <font size=+3>BIG FAN</font> of your previous modular work. thank you!

815 chipset, like my Acorp 6A815EPD, does not support 512MB banks. It supports 256MB banks, up to a total of 512MB on the motherboard.
I first thought for c/tusl-2 the same would be true, but Alfonso corrects this below.
I have 2x256MB Apacer CL2 133MHz.

This is taken from the info for the newest version 1011 BIOS:
Revise DMI maximum memory module size information to 512M Bytes.
English is not my first Language, but with a little guessing, I conclude this means, it can eat a 512MB stick of RAM. But 2*256MB is cheaper. And actually I thought it was a bit the other way - that it is difficult to make big modules as fast as the smaller ones.
