for a happy little title intro. Both got canned for being too 70's. (good, I aimed to be funky) 2 trumpets and 2 trombones from Samplemodeling playing on Ewi. I had tons of fun playing the parts. I should remind everyone I am totally in love with the samplemodeling + Ewi combo. They're just so fun to play.

I personally like the "more funk" version but my playing kinda suck on the off 16ths. But the chord voicings on this one is closer to my usual voicing style for chorus work. (which was derived from horn section style arranging) Chord stabs are tighter in the "more funk" version too. I did it after the "cartoon" version so I think I was more in the zone.

The problem with the "cartoon" version I think is that the last trombone guy is too high. Or maybe the trombones in general need to be lower. Seems the harmony doesn't have enough body and the stabs don't have enough power from the trombones.

Yeah mate I reckon you're right - trombones need more ^ accent on the off 16ths - shorter, fatter, and a little back . I'd be happy to put them down on a real golden handbrake for ya to achieve that bro

:) wow, I love funk music, you got the feeling for music! You play your Instrument not only with the mouse! This is no mousepusher music. I like it.

Good arrangement and EWI playing.
I was thinking, maybe you can do something with a little more filter modulation.
Just for giving accents(open filter).

Your EWI did the trick :)
For years my twin brother Arie played the EWI-physical modelling synth too.
Here is some acoustic work from him as a sax player:
