Hello, Xite users, I still don´t have a Xite-1, just have got a Pro card but have a 1u rack around with preamps,DA,headphones... I have been thinking about a briefcase that could allow to carry one 1U rack with the laptop above, so just open the lid and the portable studio is ready?
And some little devices could be carried, optical mouse, cables.., etc
Have you checked that?

Though XITE needs 12V (40W max) from its external PSU.
And at least you need to handle the HDMI and the headphone cabling from and to XITE-1 in the suitacase.
The 1u Xite produces a fair amount of heat so you better have very good air flow in the suitcase as well when using XITE.
I have a cheap big case where I have the magma, the 1u preamp and the laptop, when use it the case is open, so no overheating problems, with Xite I should leave some space between it and the laptop, maybe some type of holder with grid form.

These is the type of briefcase I find interesting because is light, but has 46-47 cm wide grrrr
only 1.5 cm or so, should need to cut the rack extremes.
And this my actual case, have a lot of things there, but a little big to keep moving around. I still don´t have the Xite, so the case should be for the rack you see in the photo, but maybe I´ll have to end buying Xite, or the One unit expansin from Magma what is really quite expensive.

Yes an ATA spec'd SKB Case or Gator Case 1U/2U/3U or 4U is perfect.
I will be competing against Laptops and racks of Receptors in 2010/2011 so for me to stay ahead in quality of synths, samples and effects. I will use a 4U that will have front and back rails packed. I thought about a dual H57 MINI-ITX DAW in a 1U but that's my dilemma, if one of the 2 interior mobos die I have no DAW at all. A 1U DAW and a laptop would provide redundancy as well as the laptop screen instead of another slanted pop up ATA 12U mixer case that would have held an 8U LCD.
Since the ATA cases are 20 inches from rail to rail I can have the XITE-1, Furman PS Pro power ditribution and Voltage Regulator, A16U and a 1U DAW in front. The backside can have the 3U SE-1 Analog synth, and a 1U CV Dual Filter Modular to connect with Scope Modular patches. I always wanted a real modular analog filter solution w/ Scope's Modular.
That is still being looked into by a DIY member her who builds electrical circuits.

I had one of this, too weighted to my like. In the other hand you cannot carry the laptop inside, is ok if you are going to use a racked pc, but for laptop I should prefer a biefcase, so you could fix the racks to the botton and carry all together.
