Hi there,

could anybody tell me how long the cable to connect to Xite-1 module with the PCIe interface is?

Thanks in advance!

i believe the maximum length was 10 meters or so. i really don't remember, S/C can verify, but it might be even longer(maximum possible length). i believe a stock aftermrket cable can be used.

-- pc card to rack = HDMI (classic hdmi)
-- SC told me they tested up to 10 meters without problem but also that it is better to stay on shorter length (in all type of connections, usb, firewire, audio, hdmu etc etc there is a risk of data loss/corruption if cables are too long). There are HDMI amplifiers but I don't how good/bad they are.

puh, good luck :)
I'm planning my working space with upcoming Xite-1 and connection to the PCIe interface and was worried about cable length which could mean a complete change of my planning. but HDMi standard cable with up to 10 m sound very good so far... actually, 4,5 - 6 m should be more than sufficent.
Nevertheless, I think I should have to ask also the official support on monday to make this fact sure..
thanks for your responses, I can sleep again

kind of stuff you can find about HDMI repeater (amplifiers) http://www.hdtvhookup.com/hdmirepeater.html
But I have no idea if this kind of stuff would work on xite... looks risky :-)
I think the cable is now either 1m or 1.80m (3 or 6 foot) but I don't know (that's what I read on forums)

I'm using a standard 5 m HDMI cable, works absolutely perfect. :)

HDMI requires a lot of power down the cable, so under 10m is the basic recommended spec.

One company I'm working with is developing wireless HDMI, and it's basically restricted to under 40m over the air.

p.s. FWIW I think LightPeak may win out over USB3.0 within 3 years.
http://www.techspot.com/news/36357-inte ... -peak.html
Currently USB 3.0 has problems with power, and there are some other hybrid HDMI protocols emerging, but ultimately if Intel decides to dump USB3.0, then Lightpeak may take over (or they could just call LP USB 3.0  ).

I think USB3 is the future e-Sata protocol, as e-Sata does not convey electricty on the same cable, so they work on that. It is the same plug shape and same bandwith (SATA III 6GB/s).

I can see this trend, yes...

Some laptops already have eSATA.

Our computers are in a dedicated room and I have it running succesfully with a 15 meter cable (a pretty expensive one tough)
