I ordered this MB for the XITE-1 to be used like this.
E7500 CPU
4 GB RAM
(6) on board SATA ports supporing RAID 0, 1, & 5
(2) PCIe 1x (1) for a SATA controller card for the for Optical media (2) DVDR drives
and the other for the XITE-1
(1) PCIe 16x empty
(1) PCI possibly for the Pulsar II card I still have
Onboard video (2) no two head card needed...

Supermicro SC742 4U chasis (7) hot swap bays w/ SATA Backplane (thanx valis)
(4) 250 GB HD RAID 5 w/ the 4th for a hot spare for the data
(2) 200 GB HD RAID 1 (mirrored) for the OS & Apps

Build to begin either today, or Monday...(hopefully today... :) )
And obviously, I will post the level of success or not so successful results.
(I refuse to call them failures  )

Well...today I got my board. Got it to post w/ 4 GB RAM & got the (2) 200 GB Hot Swap HDs mirrored, formatted & XP Pro SP3 installed (the fastest MS OS install I've ever done btw). Tomorrow, RAID 5 on (3) Hot Swap 250 GB HDs for data (sample libraries & audio), a PCIe SATA controller for the optical drives...then it's XITE time...

Are you using this machine for modeling black holes on the side or something?

Geez, even the Xite is going to get lost. :P

I tried to really keep it simple...MB speaking. I did not want too many PCI or PCIe slots, along with USB and video traffic involved on the MB. Granted...the storage is just for redundancy....I know...I know...I know!...a little over kill. I have had way too many drives fry like a mozzarella stick...(that's the Italian in me) only having OSs, midi files, and audio files (pretty much only precious in my mind) lost & having to reproduce, and re-program from scratch.....I'm actually hoping to fuck w/ NASA some time soon.... .....thanx for the rib... and enjoy your working vacation in AZ....stay in the zone bud...and don't let the the trolls get to you....(I know you don't )

Works flawlessly so far! Sequencer/DAW software to come next...stay tuned, but the XITE likes it's new home...
Yes...I know It's my kitchen...all of you you can stop laughing now....I just didn't want to wait any longer...so I just started throwing the hardware together...

Added a Pulsar II card, installed 5.0 PCI. Once again, the board performed perfectly.
