i am a mathematics student with a sound physics background and a little programming knowledge. I have recently bough a creamware card with DSP and am fascinated by the idea of creating new synths. can anyone suggest any good textbooks, webpages and development kits to get started? I am gratefull for all replies.

Well, to develop, you must have SCOPE/DP.
Unfortunatly, it's 8000$, or something like that.

u can try to contact
nb@creamware.de
in the past some developpers get there devkit 4 free(scope+sdk)some of them never
release any device...
then if u know something about coding.etc..
and you are motivate...
bye

sounds interesting.. maybe i should send him a mail.
because i do know assembler (although not sharc) and are quite good at programming synths and are good on the modular2 too. I also know how to process audio by using math, and have invented a couple of distortion algorithms as vst-plugins that would make a lot of people happy.
But I have no intentions on making money on it but just do stuff that I feel I need and give it away if it gets good. (unless i make something completely über-awesome and I mean it) I would also make atoms if i get it so there might be new oscillators and stuff to others as well.
So the fact that I'm not intending to make money of it maybe makes creamware see me as a bad investment since i might not be ambitious enough to run a business around it, at least until i graduate (2 years left). But I do intend to work with audio in some way or another when I 'grow up' and start working..
It might seem silly to ask advice about this, but i wan't to come of as an interesting suspect when i mail cw. So do you have any tips how to approach them?
just out of curiousity, is this how you got your devkit?

Very few people can make
atoms. little chance you would be given permission by Creamware I think!
If you think you do have a brilliant idea, you might want to contact someone to make it for you. I thought John Bowen collaborates closesly with a Creamware programmer.
atomic.

And John Bowen makes great synths himself, too (or mainly!!!!)
