I am faced with a dilemma as I might have to read musical scores while performing.
I have to buy a 9U rackmounted 20" LCD and use the rackmount kit for my Standtastic Keyboard stand. In this way I could scroll through musical scores that were converted to pdf. files vertically.
Is there a way in Scope to use a giant notepad or something, and have MIDI CC's for page to page jumps or scrolling?
This is a new thing for me and I must prepare as turning pages is not an option. Especially if I have to cover horns and strings.
Thnakfully I always practice reading music I never played before as it is helpful to keep from getting rusty. But I need a way to do this, and also have found out my rack might be as far away as 30 feet.......... Jeez it use to be so easy just playing a Piano.

Any Ideas?

you need to input midi CC and output scrolling a document (mousewheel, i guess)

i think you might need something PC based. scope does not have any connection with your OS and other programs.
maybe bidule has a keyboard/mouse output module? or maybe someone made one. you just need CC > scroll wheel speed or something.
or something else like glovepie or max/msp
since glovepie is free look at that first, i think it can convert various input and output signals to different ones.

if you are dealing with pdf, i don't think handling things in SFP is viable.

the only thing that came in my mind was to look for a sort of MIDI application in order to assign, for example, a switch pedal to a keyboard stroke - ex. pag.down - to handle the scrolling in acrobat. you could use SFP to route the incoming midi signal to a midi dest to the appropriate windows application.

It sounds do able. I haven't read scores for decades. I read Piano music horn charts, etc.
But with scores there are multiple instruments which means you get 4 to 8 bars before you need to flip the page.
There's no way I can do that while trying to cover 2 or 3 instruments.
These Productiuon Managers are as bad as guys at Cubase.net with their requests for unrealistic goals. I can only assume that others have done this before or they wouldn't have had the knowledge. I really need 2 screens for the xite-1 anyways so that's no problemo.
I also now realize this must be done horizontally if at all possible. Scrolling left to right so I can maintain a smooth transition instead of a page jump.......
I always boast about how I can play anything, so now I must put my money where my mouth is.
WTF have I got myself into...??
I have 4 months to prepare.
Below is the way a score will look. The one below is my favorite Wagner Opera and I can cover 2 parts no problemo, but jumping around w/ 3 and 4 parts on a 4 zone controller is going to be a chore for sure. Thankfully I can apply overlapping zones on the fly.

Thanks again, I'll post back when I figure something out. Even though I will only be using 4 or 5 fingers this is no walk in the park.
You know what sucks the most though, is all of the synths from Bowen and SpaceF, and the XITE-1 I have purchased, and I will be using Rompler instruments......go figure.

I like converted pdf.'s as that is what I cuurently use on my DAW for reading.
I need to scroll left to right and it seems this is why I need some custom approach.
I have been invited to the MAX/DSP forum, but these guy talk like scientists.
Oh well, I have embarrassed myself many times, so this will be nothing new.

I think I figured out a way to do this.
I might need a hot key conversion to CC device or something.
But FoxIt can be customized to scroll left to right.
If I can use 2 footswitches from my MIDI Solutions F8 with the help of a MIDI CC converter, I can then re write and scan all of the music.
That will give me 12-16 bars per page and the ability to back up and go forward.

How could I apply hot keys to MIDI CC's in Scope?

Hey I don't know shit, I got a few chops that's about it.
Guys here make synths, devices, recordings and help my lame ass out at my gigs.
4 years ago I had a GigaDaw and all hardware, management and a crew.
Now I got a rack that replaced all of that, and these guys are my crew.
Lazy guys won't help me pack my gear, but they sure helped to build it....

I want to get into developing devices too...I have a few chops myself...(php, cgi, pearl, etc)
But for now...a 6 DSP card won't hack it...
I was hoping (as in one of my previous posts) I WTB a 15 DSP card, so I can get the SDK...

Do you know if the Xite will have the SDK, or will that be another seperate item to look for?

Since I am lame w/ VST apps, can someone check and see if this will work for horizontal scrolling?
I still do not have a solution, but I think I can get what I want if I can find a MIDI CC to QWERTY translator inside of Scope.
I remember I was crying for one for VDAT, but maybe in the future.

the scope SDK can not have access to windows keystroke. i think that is not currently possible.

Could you read this a little and see if it might work.
I appreciate it if you have time. I don't understand what they're saying, but because I can add a foot pedal it sounds like I could use it somehow.
I'll try and read it again but I can't picture in my head how it will work.

A few thoughts on this here issue. BOMES could do it, in theory. A BOMES preset for each song in the performance. Within each seperate BOMES preset a series of translator entries for each page of the song. Incoming for each page would be a unique MIDI message, preset change, even timed, whatever. Outgoing would be right arrow keystroke to change page in Foxit. This is all theoretical as I don't use the BOMES.

Rather you than me, sounds like a lot of headache. Neutron's Musicreader looks good. It appears to have a back and forth footpedal. http://www.musicreader.net/foot-pedal-r ... one-2.html


Means the whole performance might be able to be loaded into one Musicreader file negating the necessity to load a different file for each song though I guess a .pdf could be created for the whole performance too. Bit of tap dancing to go through the pages.

Again, all theoretical as I never used any of this stuff.

I just hate buying software that I can't demo anymore.
Getting screwed by developers for samples has left a bad taste in my mouth.
I think your right about this nightscope.
If it doesn't work out it didn't cost too much.
Besides I will memorize the scores within days. I just want to look sharp for the audition.

I do love to use the term Ankyu, but that guy's ANKYU is the best I have ever heard.

The guy below lasted longer than most in the movie, but he too was ANKYU'd off of the stage.

why dont you just get a game controller foot pedal and map the controller to the arrow keys.

What app would I use to map it?
A footswitch is no biggie really, but what did you have in mind?
