How does the plug-in activation work? Is it connected to Scope board id or some computer id code?
I mean if I move my Scope Pro board into another machine can I still use the same activation code?
In the activation window there's a place for plug-in serial number but as my plug-ins are downloaded I don't have any. So am I ok if I just send the transfer string to s|c?
My new plug-ins needing activation are Pro-Wave and Solaris v.5.
Activation window gives the same transfer string for both plug-ins.

Re: Scope plug-in activation
The activation codes for all plug-ins are tied to your Scope board's serial number - it acts like a dongle for your software. So, yes you do need your Scope board installed to activate the devices. If you move the board to a new computer all your keys remain the same.
Re: Scope plug-in activation
the activation code (being generated by S|C from the transfer string) is translated to an entry in your scope.rgy when you enter it. this file can be saved and later imported on a different machine, whereever you move the board the plugin was bound to.kaju wrote:I mean if I move my Scope Pro board into another machine can I still use the same activation code?
some plugins require sending the transfer string, some don't. the zarg plugins seem to, as I learned. In the activation window there's a place for plug-in serial number but as my plug-ins are downloaded I don't have any. So am I ok if I just send the transfer string to s|c?
look at the strings again. are they really exactly the same? afaik they look very similar, but they differ in 3 or 4 characters...My new plug-ins needing activation are Pro-Wave and Solaris v.5.

but then, you will see from the resulting activation string from ralf whether they are different or not. I would say yes.

Thanks kylie and Mr.Arkadin.
The transfer strings for Pro-Wave and Solaris v.5 are exactly identical.
But I think it must be ok. I'll e-mail the code(s) to s|c and ask for activation codes.
cheers,

mh. I always had issues with the copy and paste buttons in the key request dialog, so don't get yourself fooled here...kaju wrote:The transfer strings for Pro-Wave and Solaris v.5 are exactly identical.
I have a clipboard manager now, for that very reason.

Re: Scope plug-in activation
It seems a bit strange but they really are identical.
I e-mailed Ralf Bach and asked him; I also enclosed those transfer strings (the same string twice
).
But if a serial number is needed for identification of the plug-in I hope he'll send them to me.
We'll see...

Re: Scope plug-in activation
I got an e-mail from Ralf and he asked me to send the transfer strings again, and restart the system between getting them.
And yes, this time the codes were no more identical!
So obviously Windows doesn't update the Clipboard but gives you an old clip

Re: Scope plug-in activation
the copy to clipboard function from the activation dialog is at least partly responsible. it seems pressing the button does not dare to fill the clipboard buffer if not empty.kaju wrote:So obviously Windows doesn't update the Clipboard but gives you an old clip
I was successful emptying the clipboard manually by calling clipbrd and wiping it. after that the button copies the new string.
later I got myself the already mentioned clipboard manager, which is great help when registering scope devices...

maybe I should have told you more clearly to compare the strings shown in the activation dialog window, and not those coming from the buffer.

last time, when I had that problem, I tracked it down by making screenshots...
so the mystery is solved now, I assume? glad to hear that
