I really like the build quality and forward looking design of this board.
More and more, even on the X58's I am noticing the PS/2 ports coming back from the dead.

I love my P35, but this would be a great board for 3 x Pro cards.
Anything I have ever bought w/ a 5 year warranty, like my Raptors, are still being used and show no signs of bad sectors, or any mechanical difficulty.

E8600 is a great CPU but this board w/ a low power E8400 would be a very well matured, stable, cool Scope rig.

except for the part where nobody has built one, and you have no idea how they have assigned IRQs to the PCI slots and it may be impossible for it to work well with 3 cards(like giigabyte)

motherboards hardly ever die before 5 years anyways. they die in the first 2 weeks, are dead when new(abit) or not at all.

True, they last a long time in the case of Supermicro and Intel, I can attest to that.
But the excessive heat and other elements that they have done their tests with are even more rigorous than Intel's QC routines.
I also would point out that Intel has succumbed to pressure from Overclockers and Gamers on their BIOS releases which veer away from their original Phoenix Award BIOS of the 875/975 vintage.
This is the same old untouched BIOS from those designs.

I would like to one in action.

What will your buddies say.
...let alone the fact that he's got intention to keep that old stuff for another 5 years, while the buddies will hop on the new hot stuff year after year after year...

Ahh Fuck My Buddies,
All they do to each other is try to get someone to buy what they want so they can see if it will do what they want.
But this isn't a P35, too bad actually as I think that chipset is the best we have seen for Scope, and my secondary VSTi romplers.

This is the Q35.

It can be used as a low power 64bit solution, and while the graphics would share system memory, on an 8GB DAW, even using 2 x screens there's plenty of RAM to go around.

These same buddies finally got me to update my CPU to the E8600, and I see no improvements whatsoever. Oh well, at least I have a spare E series now just in case.
