Has anyone seen an ADAT interface box with 8 in/out thats in a 1/2 u box or smaller?
it is for a prototype of something which will use the DSP of a pulsar as its "electronics" so i dont want to spend a lot. doesnt even have to be 24 bit. 16 or 18 will do fine.
I would try and build it myself but i cant find much information on adat chips or anything. and I would rather have something ready made i can just rip out the PCB from.
Tiny adat interface.
Re: Tiny adat interface.
Or look at these units:

for input only
or already mentionned
http://www.thomann.de/fr/marian_adcon.htm
or maybe
http://www.thomann.de/fr/behringer_ultr ... da8000.htm
or a used Creamware A8 ...

Re: Tiny adat interface.
the fostex one looks good borg. except he wont send it to canada..(i whined at him a bit though)
behringer was an option but its a bit big and i saw the circuit board inside. they use board instead of wires so the board is huge.
the other units are either in or out only or are a bit expensive for an experiment.
my other option is to use a bigger ADAT box (behringer) and run analog cable to and from the (handheld device with lots of inputs and outputs) to the box in the rack or on the ground.

Re: Tiny adat interface.
but its not for making music or anything. i just need a quick and cheap way to get 8 chan of reasonable audio in and out of the pulsar in a compact unitstardust wrote:hmmm ok but the specs are better
without 16 audio wires all over the place.
if i ever built a final version of the thing it would not even use the adat. the processing which the pulsar is doing would be onboard (if it even needs DSP, maybe just some opamps!). I am just using the pulsar to help me design how the processing should work.
Re: Tiny adat interface.
Looks like im getting 2 of them for $200 plus shipping.
just the ticket!
