I have found the perfect case.
This will take the current 14U worth od space that I have for the monitor, 4U ATX, and 1U QWERTY, and shrink it down to 9U for this 8U mATX w/ 1U left for XITE-1.
Since I do not need to use a mouse and KB @ the gig, I can program w/ those at home, and drag this around to the gig.
Jager proof design membranes and giant side and rear fans for those VelociRaptors.
A special RAID cage is available for 4 x 2.5" HDD's each 300GB's and 10k rpm.
SWEET.
Looks like I will have a 4U ATX Rackmount case, and 8U Rackmount LCD for sale.
Also will be the Studio Electronics SE-1X, 1U Cyberview 4 port KVM QWERTY keyboard drawer.
These will definately fall under the sore dick deal price range as I have made up my mind.

does it have quick defrost?
btw who makes that thing. it would be even cooler if someone made one with space inside for some 1us.
you just got to make a screen saver of some food spinning around inside the microwave

Here's one from a camera for ya'.
It's a 19 inch NEC LCD that takes up 8U. I bought it at ....
www.gtweb.net
It's the CS636, but the model of the LCD has changed in the last 3 years.
It's the same size of the unit above, but that LCD is a 15" unit w/ 1250 cd/m squared. In other words the brightest dispaly currently made in that size. Perfect for stage lighting.
That pic was when I first bought it and was using lots of unknown custom devices from an L.A. Key-Tech Shop.
The guy had a superb reverb and delay bundle but I had to return the software to him under our agreement.
He' was a real jerk and I think he was bannished from the Z years ago.

Jimmy,
there are KVM rack consoles (LCD / keyboard / mouse combos in a drawer) that take only 1 unit:

I used them a lot and are very handy.

true.. you can find laptops with 21" screen, twin SATA2 drives, and very fast external drivebays that would take 2u on your rack

I have seen those and they are a good option, but a little expensive.
I think when HDD's become obslete and SSD's become mainstream. that would be a good choice.
I am always a little behind the times when I build for the stage.

Exactamente.
I have buddies who use laptops but they have to load much smaller projects, and are hardly under the pressure I am to immatate Acoustic and Electric Guitars, Horns, Strings, and electro-mechanical instruments like Rhodes, Wurlitzer, etc.
For just a solo Piano gig w/ a really decent Piano Library, and an Upright Bass, and some cheezy drum loops, that would work.
But I have to cover many aspects, and do not have the luxury of loading projects and staring at the LCD waiting.
I see many guys here in Vegas doing that, and it is unacceptable. These guys stand there pushing buttons and having the entire audience and band members staring at them, waiting, watching, and hoping there are no human errors that would cause the second re load.....................seriously Bush league, but then again I envy their gravy gig that allows them to bring a laptop and a plastic 61 note controller.
It's my fault for wanting the perfect virtual stage rig.....................
If I had the gear I have now back in 2000..................I could have been a contender.
