Will be Xite compatible or will Xite take advantage from this?
Let's hope devs know and take into account that!
I'd personally prefer another delay rather than being obsolete next year!
cheers

...next year would probably be the time I'll have saved enough to buy one Xite
Similar question is about PCIe 2.0, which is now supported by 4x intel chipset series

I'm only speculating here...
Given that in XITE-1 the PCIe and ExpressCard are simply "host connectors" and that the actual meat is in the external module, I presume it would be relatively cheap and simple for S|C to keep up with these updates.. Much easier than with the internal cards.

assuming of course the Xite will need anywhere near the current capacity of ExpressCard '1'...which is unlikely - so what exactly does Xite actually need to 'take advantage of' (other than something cool and new?)
it took about 2 years after ExpressCard 1 was defined before any notebooks actually had it, and only now are we seeing it actually being supported by anything useful in terms of cards....

it is hard to forecast every new feature of the forthecoming computers. Again, providing an express card audio solution is excellent in 2008 (Apogee ensemble too), period. Will SC give drivers for OS XI or provide express card options later? I think so but who cares right now ? .... My Mac book pro is ready for the Xite, that's what is important to me ... Do you plan to get a laptop with the express card 2 ? So, you don't need the Xite now cos you will have to wait for the new laptops first ... does it make sense to you ?
