I´m just shocked with the new hardware.

Please, please, tell us more details, does it have onboard ram? is compatible with most PCMCIA laptop interfaces?
What about the PCI bandwith limit problems that we used to have with the Magma and the samplers, delays and reverbs??

looks like some sort of basic fx suite:
reverb, eq strip and compressor

Think about what the 3rd party and SDK guys are going to do for us now.

Add that to Holger, The Body Of Ralf, and others.

Their talent and commitment alone are worth way more than the asking price.

now the question is do they simply mean you can access both the old cards and the new system with one software, but not load old stuff on the new hardware.

Or does it mean old and new ahrdware simply execute the same code.

"compatible to the Scope Fusion Platform" seems to mean can use the same sofware.
If were that other posibility, would be "compatible with previus/old hardware".

But I´m not asking about that compatibility. I´m wondering if I conect to my laptop, what is not the last modern PCIe, will have PCI bandwith problems like with Magma?
Realize that this problems were about memory usage of the samplers, delay and reverbs.., so I still don´t know how about that. If the unit could work with onboard ram, will be no problem even with a current laptop...that´s my doubt, since there is no bandwith problems with Magma if you don´t use samplers, reverbs etc. Still can use many ASIO channels without problem.
Pci bandwith problems start when using STS, or Masterverb (I don´t use reverb, but yes the STS).

No 96k support?
I see only 2 xlr's in and adat, which will only do 48

It has 2 x ADAT in/out (16 channels) so I assume it will cope with ADAT SMUX 96K (8 channels)

Aes/Ebu often supports 96khz, and in cases 192khz.

would be nice for a 4k interface to provide an option for more than 8 I/O's though.
be great to see a "z-link" type connection(s) that SC could provide several different high samplrate multi I/O options, similar to motu or digidesign. The lack of add on convertors worries me a bit with this interface.
Excellent processing power, but if I need to track 24 ins at 96k, it seems this system is dead in the water if no expandability is offered.

calling this a 4k 'interface' is not quite the right decription

if what you need is to record 24 tracks @ 96k there are many other cheaper options

having said that it seems a shame not to include z-link for easy A16 expansion...

It will use ASIO as a driver model, meaning you can only use one device at a time. That also limits you in what you can do as an interface.
jaw dropping DSP with only 8 channels I/O with no option for more was not a good decision IMO.

Maybe will be avaible expansion slots with multiple ADAT In/outs like in the previus hardware.
We don´t know what really XTDM can do, and if will be diferent versions like was in the Scope project Z-link/ADAT etc..
I don´t think they haven´t thought on all that.

true - and if XTDM is anything like STDM, then there is no reason you couldn't an I/O expansion box focused on I/O rather than DSP - i.e. an XTDM version of the A16, which must have a lot more potential then zlink!

All I'm saying, is if you are going to tie using the DSP to your interface, you better make sure the interface is able to handle the I/O requirements of it's users. In it's current state, the new Scope is not. I would have thought it preudent to offer a new A16 or somthing at launch that would take advantage of the XTDM bus.
