This MB cought my attention, as I was looking around for possible upgrade-alternative, seems like an attractive budget-board,
and not geared towards gamers.
Supports Intel® Core™ 2 multi-core and upcoming 45nm processors
Solid capacitors design in CPU VRM
Supports DDR2 1066* memory for outstanding system performance
Features PCI Express x16 for outstanding graphics performance
Integrated SATA 3Gb/s

I asked Gigabyte USA about the retail vailability of this board. Here is their answer:
Answer : Dear Customer,
The model GA-P35-S3G was released to dealers early this week. All our dealers should have them within the next week or shortly thereafter:
PC Club
ewiz.com
Fry's
mwave
etc.,
Thank you for choosing Gigabyte products
I'll be checking Fry's and mwave next week.

very nice, this could be my board, then I could use the 6dsp card lying unused around here .
thnaks for the hint.
and combined with an E8400 which has pretty low power consumtion specs...
should be around 30watt and pretty cheap too.

uh, cool, but sadly no Firewire connectors on mainboard... because I need 3 pci for scope and 2 for UAD, no space for firewire!

Solution = PCIe firewire card. Just choose carefully! The SYBA SD-PEX-FWB looks like it may be a good choice if you need firewire. I don't, right now. My motherboard just arrived - $88 at eWiz.com. I'm waiting for a couple more components. Then, the rebulding starts!
