Intel X38 Express Mobo w/ 3 x PCI 32bit slots ?

Post by dawman »

I have been hunting for a 3 x PCI 32bit X38 mobo to no avail.

If anyone finds one, please post a link here.

Brotha' Man Kylie,

These mobos are all 2 x PCI 32bit.

This is a major concern to me. I want to have more sampled content, and use 28 stereo channels of Giga / Kontackt libraries. The Penryn CPU will be able to achieve this no sweat, especially with Wolf's 32 channel mixer, or by a modular approach such as Mehdi's MB4's, and FP8's.

Since Gigastudio 4 will operate with the ancient GSIF 1.0 drivers that CW made back in the last century, and is Vista / XP compatible, a 3 x PCI 32bit is needed to house my Scope cards.

I sure hope they release a mobo for 3 PCI's. I am upgrading right after Christmas and before New Years.

Here's the only one I found.

It looks to be rather perfect for Scope cards, and unlike the others supports DDRII RAM.

This is great news, as DFI is always a great OC'ing solution also. I plan on getting an early 45nm CPU and OC'ing it to give me maximum channels of sampled content. I might not need to OC, but this Dog will hunt if needed to.

Another little known fact is that Intel's X38 chipset supports DDRII. This is especially great to know as I prefer to use super low latency DDRII ( CL2 or 3 ) and tweaking the FSB timings.

It sure looks pretty.

Chime in GaryB, I am buying within one month's time. My Christmas present will be at the last minute here, but a 45nm CPU has been promised by WJ.

Many mobo makers are not releasing much info yet. Supermicro has a model also, but no information on it's layout can be found. This is the first board that got my attention. The money saved on DDRII will justify the cost of upgrading. DDRIII just won't be necessary. A low latency fast memory sub system is needed, and I believe that the low latency approach of DDRII, coupled with a large CPU cache, and and fast ass Raptors will get me where I am going.

Time will tell.

O.K. then, This will win the day, as I feel Intel is pushing the new PCI 2.0 so hard, it will only rid the board of PCI's from here on out, until there are none left for us SFP guys. Maybe Supermicro ?

I want the ability to use CL2 / CL3 DDRII w/ a 45nm CPU. Audio apps can't possibly need a 1472MHz F.S.B. But an OC'd 1333 FSB w/ low latency and SSE3 & 4 and multi core support should fill a 32 channel Scope mixer just fine.

I will simply add some veggies to my meat & potatoes libraries.

I am glad you like it. Hope you don't mind installing it on Dec. 26-29th, 2007 @ the Van Halen reunion.

My buddy Jerry says that they stayed an extra night in Philly as it sold out twice. 3 times in D.C. Everywhere they are adding extra nights, truly people remeber the first and best IMO rendition of Van Halen.

It seems as though this might be the tour with the largest gross this year, and it only just kicked off. 2008 will surely be a killer year as well. They are driving to Canda somewhere now. Jerry is really trying to get used to having a schedule, and wants out, but I begged him to stay so you and Kensuguro could have a good time when you come to Las Vegas. He has oblidged.

Funny how I can convince a self made millionaire to agree w/ me, and my son still doesn't mind very well !!

Actually it's the 45nm CPU I'm after. Chipset is the key.

It's not needed for Scope but for GVI / K2, it will load mucho libraries.

I really only need 5 or 6 more channels of sampled content, and since Bidule is now multi core, GS4 / GVI 2 will be perfect.

It's all about load once and run w/ me. This definately isn't needed as the good ol' P4 still is capable of a fair amount of content. I just have to add a few ,ore upcoming libraries, which I cannot publicly speak about at this time.

Soon., I will be capable of all styles at any time live or in the studio.

This is my quest.
