I want to record an ordinary Fender bass.
I already own the Dynatube amps for guitar, and I really like them.

So if somebody has tried the bass-amps, tell me which you like best.

Both are very good actually ... It just depends on the sound you are looking for (just consider that an Ampeg V4BH is just different from a SimWatt PA100). If you like the dynatube guitar, you won't be desappointed ... Of course a good DI is important. I would say that Dynatube Bass (because of the instrument features and frequencies i suppose) can work very well with a decent DI whereas for Dynatube guitar, i would go for a DI like Avalon, Reddi, etc ... to give you a very good sound.

Both dynatubes respect the sound/personality of your instrument which is one of the strengths of these plugins... Have fun !!!

1. jo, did you mean pre-amp, or indeed DI? pardon my ignorance, but are you talking about a live situation, or studio?

2. has anyone tried a bass guitar on one of the guitar dynatubes? or a guitar on one of the bass amps? at the moment i'd like to choose one and spend money on some other things as well. i think i might like the SimWatts.

i meant DI. You may know that you can also feed an amp and then send (also) the signal to dynatube. Actually, and mainly for a bass i would recommend DI and then dynatube. Just perfect to me... Recording a bass amp is very hard to do and you will get a very convincing result with the DI+dynatube combination !

I'd be interested to know how the Dynatube bass amps sound compared to Celmo's bass amp sim.

I'll tell you shortly about the comparison between celmo and dyna as I should be getting the ampeg soon . I really love celmos sounds, that guy gets it doesn't he  , but I'd like to setup up my controller and not have to assign midi in the bassamp every time I want to have a fiddle .
