Wood used for the ASB units?

Does anybody know:

1. What type of wood is used for the ASB synths?
2. What type of wood treatment they use; stainer varnish etc?

I want to make a case for my Alesis Micron, Minimax and Tapco Mix50 mixer. I'm planning on having the Minimax and mixer on a shelf at the back, which will tilt up and lock (like a minimoog). As the bottom of the case will be used on stage, I'd like to use the same wood, so that it looks like it's all one unit.

Thanks in advance.

In my experience, duplicating an existing wood stain can be a real 'hit or miss' proposition - mostly miss. That said, it shouldn't be too difficult to remove the existing wood panels from the Minimax and build those guts into your new case. That way, you're guaranteed to match the wood (since you'll stain all of it) and have a custom one-of-a-kind instrument as a result.

For some inspiration, take a look at this Minimoog clone from Steven 2948:

I believe it is walnut, but I don't know about the varnish, etc.
