Third board

Post by pistoguitar »

Hi everyone,
I'm waiting for a old Pulsar 1 card I just bought on ebay for quite a good price (80 €).
So I'm going to improve my system (Luna + Pulsar 2) with that board.
Being the first time I'll have to deal with three boards, I'd be really glad to hear any advice from Planet Z members.
I'm running a P4 dual core with 2 G on a p4p800 ASUS motherboard with the latest BIOS available and a pretty fresh XP install (just a few weeks).

It's a no-brainer, the card's DSPs will show up in the SFP DSP meter, with it's own name.
Unless IRQ sharing of the third card will happen in your system...

Ah, ok. I hoped this should be somenthing alike.
Unfortunately I think tha my boards are sharing IRQ with some kind of USB controller at the time. Is this something really awful?
And again, how may I know wath card is my primary card, and is there any possibility of changing it?
Thanks for the quick answer, anyway!

disable the usb controller in the device manager. irq sharing fixed.
you don't need all those controllers. all or most of your usb ports will still work.

it's possible to change which card is primary, but usually it's not nessessary to do so. why do you need to do this?

just let the type two card(s) be nr zero, to get lowest latency :-)

I have a similar system - Luna II, Pulsar I and a Pulsar II SRB. Should be ok, but you may need 2 STDM cables.

Man, this forum is awesome!
Thanks alot to everyone.
So I think I'm going to disable those usb controllers and hope the whole system will work better. I experimented a few clicks during playback with Cubase, always when zooming in the project window. I still don't know if it's a Graphic card problem or a DSP board problem. BTW my ATI Radeon is giving more and more problems.
Anyway I would like to be able to change my boards order since everyone told me that the II generation boards should always be primary, and the Pulsar 1 should be next, for a latency issue.

Really? I hope the seller will send one... though I''ve got the idea he doesn't really know what he's shipping.

Ok, cable one connects Luna, P2 and P1. What does cable two connect? :P

Just 1 stdm cable here - 3 cards + cubase 4 - trouble free (after cubase 4.02)

...but could use a 2. cable to throw at the wall when somthing goes s#¤%
