batch loading samples, possible at all?
batch loading samples, possible at all?
ok, so i wanted to make an sts bank for use in a live setup, only to find out what a pain in the butt it is....
i must addmit to never getting deep into the sts, i knew you couldnt load wav files directly (silly and annoying imo), but what really gets me is you can't load a bunch of samples at once and have them automatically map, like the way Kontakt or Battery do... having to manually insert each *.p file, and map it to a key... well just takes waaaay to long in this day and age.
am i missing something?
thanks

all i am saying is i wish i could grab a whole directory of *.p or *.s files, throw them in the zones section and see them maped, each to one key, in a single zone, like kontakt or battery and i assume other modern soft samplers do.

I think I know what you want to do ,you wanna build an instrument . Yes it is a right pain pain in the arse with the sts but it can be done . When you are finished building save the project . As far as I know ,which isnt much,if you want that inst. in another project you'll have to rebuild it
but as they say practice makes perfect .
Good Luck
Paul

When you've built a new sts-instrument and saved it, you can use it in as much projects as you want, you have not to rebuild it.
My only problem (it's a small problem!) is, that every little new tweaking you make at your instrument (i. e. another MIDI channel, filter or ADSR or ... or ...) will only be saved when you save your sts-instrument with these settings in a new folder or under a new name.
For instance: "strings", "strings channel2", "strings HPF" etc. etc.
It would be a real PITA when you would have to rebuild your instruments every time when you build a new project!
relax, Thomas
