Hi,
this has just started occuring and I can't think of anything that has changed within my system...

Problem is that when i record into wavelab when cubase is open, i get crackles on playback. the sound seem to be going in clean, but there's crackles when i play it back, indicating the problem is with the audio going into wavelab (it's monitoring fine without crackles).

if i close cubase, or indeed, change the cubase driver to anything other than Scope ASIO, things record fine.

also, i can record the same sources into cubase without crackles.

so, i can't really isolate the problem.

i've tried changing the priorities of each process also and no joy. this is strange becasue it has been working fine for about a year now.

anyone have any possible solutions?

you are sure you don't use ASIO drivers of Cubase and Wavelab at the same time?
ASIO only allows one client...but you knew that...

I have some problems with my digital monitor, if I move Cubase around the sound gets very tiny clicks, if I move the window to my second monitor which is connected analog the problem has gone.

Are you using ASIO in wavelab, or are you using the WAV drivers?

If you're using the WAV there is a slider buried deep in the device properties of the Scope card's driver (accessed either from device manager/MMC or via the properties button in the hardware tab of the sounds & audio devices control panel applet). The slider is named 'output preload' and seems to be an additional layer of buffering. Raising the slider increases the stability of the WAV drivers....

well i don't even have the option of using ASIO in wavelab (ver 4), i just use the Creamware play/rec 1 for both playback and record.

it could be my system though, it seems to have gotten a little slow in the past few days. i'm upgrading the cpu and MB during the week so i'll be back if the problem persists after that. thanks for the replies guys.

Yes ASIO is an option in Wavelab 4. Do you have an ASIO Module loaded in your Creamware project? Is another program using the ASIO channel?

set wavelab's priority to "above normal"(cntrl/alt/del, processes tab, find wavelab, right click, set priority)
