suggestions for creamware

i just think that it could great to gather here all what we would really appreciate for the furure (scope 5 :D ????) . Although we do not have any idea of what they are preparaing, it seems that the same technology is used so our point of view seems not pointless..

my suggestion : GUI - customizable size !

1) MIXERS : Especially when it comes to mixing (EQs) i really appreciate when every channel can offer (at the top) a slim EQ channel instead of a big plugin you have to open/close. Just like real hardware !!!!! (although additional features can be reachable too)
2) "RACK SPIRIT" : why don't the synth, effects follow the same logic than the 19' rack? I mean if vinco, reverb, synth had the same size (horizontal) within scope that would be easier to organize screen sets... and more pleasant ! It is up to each customer to purchase a good graphic card that allows you to have a sharp image for small elements (which means 120/150€ for such a graphic card...)

I'll be very very happy if they fix the few annoing bugs that are still present.
For example:

Fix the phase issue when stereo files are played with STS sampler.
Fix the preset bug of the Minimax

:-)

this thread is a good idea.....

I think the platform itself is more or less perfect! So port it as it is to a new board!
the scope routing possibilities are a must.

Two things:

(1) a modular shell that has a fully customizable GUI and the possibility to render a patch into a device....
->so modular fx can be loaded as an insert....
->And if somebody patches an ARP 2600 in modular shell, he can add the graphics to it and make it a nice easy to use device for other users...
->an open interface for patche handling could give skilled programmers the possibiltiy to build a Nord patch converter and stuff like that...

best would be to make the Adern 1 and 2 pack part of a new Mod4 shell to get back to a standard... where everybody can load everything

(2) a better copy protection, so warp will release all his algos on the new platform that he is holding back right now

best would be to make his reverbs the standard bundle Scope II reverbs...

IN GENERAL:
- more of that HIGH CLASS synths like minimax, pro-12, prodyssey.... there are still some legends to remake.... maybe even a new designs....
- more emulations of high class outboard fx, like Eventide, reverbs and all that stuff, Vinco was really great....

Hifiboom,
Between Solaris w/ RDII modules, and ProWave, I have been able to make presets of MemoryMoog, Oberheim XPander, ARP 2600,Rolannd D50,ppg Wave 2.3, and just about anything from the future too. You should demo ome of these @ www.zargmusic.com

@Hifiboom,

I would believe that you need much higher quality reverbs than the 100 series - right?

Cheers

Brotha' Man Warp69,
Your reverbs, especially the vocal plate are beautiful. Would onboard RAM, as in the older DP's really allow a live player like me to be able to use them, instead of my old PCM 70, or MPX'x?

warp, you ain`t joking on me? :D

the 100 series, especially the plate is the best plug-in reverb I have had my hands on....
I first thought CSR = STW version. But actually its not.... :D not going into detail...
Pretty nice audiotool ! I love it!

mister Warp69, you are too modest.

onboard ram on the new hardware would def work in replacing your hardware lexi's on stage jimmy.
i really dig those convolution reverbs like the waves ir1 these days.
i had a lexi mpx500 but sold it now that i have a big processor.
would be even better if i could do that with scope in the future :D

Hi,

I hope it would be possible to release a 200 series and a 400 series in the future. And other reverbs with completely different signature.

I do believe the future is looking good after the announcement and they need all the suggestions that we can think of.

1) New SDK
2) PCIe DSP cards
3) Focus on the new platform, rather than the old one (many will probably disagree)

Cheers

Fixed VDAT (and associated tools) bugs. That is the most important part for me.

A bit of in-sfp midi functions would be nice too (for my part only for automating mixes).

I've had this idea for a while. MIDI is just a 7bit stream of data - right? Why not convert that record that to "audio"* and record it in "MVDAT" wich syncs to VDAT, so you have the stable stream of CCs constantly keeping your channels, effects etc. in the position you want them in. The recording frequency would maybe be 100Hz. File sizes would be next to nothing.

* By converting to "audio", I do not mean .wav files - just anything with a steady bit rate.

The meters on the MVDAT would just show the current value of the CC.

The user will probably have to make a good MIDI performance - or redo the "take". But that is just the same as with VDAT.

A step further would be to actually see and being able to edit the "wave-forms" of the "midi-audio". But that is a next step - needed for some, a bonus to others and unimportant to others again.

wow so you got something in the back, then....

great.....
warp, get in contact with Sonic Core at Messe!
:P

I def. would like to see the 200 and 400 series on a new platform.....
if there was a better way to protect your stuff, yo would not be afraid to release them, I`m sure...

I agree....

the PCI-Ex with more lanes will be much more powerful and stable considering PCI bus overflows....

a PCI 33Mhz has about 130MB/s - without overhead, you get around 100MB for all transfers...

PCI-Ex gives around 250MB/s per lane.... so without overhead you will reach about ~ 200MB/s

its realistic with a 16 lane design to reach ~ 3,2GB/s(theoretical 4GB/s), so the need for onboard memory is not that important with a new board design.

But a bit onboard memory may not hurt for some kind of tasks and absolut stability. And its no more that expensive....

yep, the platform's fine. go ahead and refine it, but no need to scrap it entirely. it's a winner, just like the old mac os. once again, i vote for in the pc cards, fix the bugs, osx, vista(do this first), and bring that mackie control type automation that was discussed and semi promised soooo many years ago. :)

Also note that where the PCI33/66 bus does 'busmastering' for devices (which allows devices with a high pci latency setting to grab large time slices) PCIe improves the model dramatically. Meaning that in addition to much more overhead, PCI overflows are really a thing of the past.

Maybe Warp69 will yet notice that after all on his P&A account ;-)

I agree with these:

Onboard memory
PCIe
Better protection to encourage developers
Remote compatability for the pro mixers

Can I also suggest:

More onboard memory
Keep the platform and somehow integrate higher DSP chips and board interfaces
Bring back the 24 ADAT plate
Introduce MADI, TDIF, AES EBU plate options
Increase available number of i/o channels as well
Please don't try to close it in with the Z Link. Keep it standard.
More stability with the wav driver
Better EQ and Compression to compare to UAD stuff
GSIF2
OSX port
Linux Port
Vista port (in that order :D )
Introducing a PCI, Express Card (34mm) and PCIe expansion chassis line. Magma have had it to good for too long :D
Ability to run more than 3 cards

Cheers
