Another Naming Contest

Post by johnbowen »

Hello to all Pulsarians!

I'm looking into having a new company name, and since everyone here was so helpful for the last couple of naming contests, I thought I'd try again. (My apologies to those of you who participated in the naming contest for the aborted FM project :o ).

It should reflect what you think of as high quality audio, flexibility and usability, etc. (what I hope Zarg Music products have always represented), and it would be nice to have it somewhat short and to the point, if at all possible...oh, and another thing - it has to be available as a .com domain name (it's been really amazing as I've searched for names - I get one I like, but someone has it already registered!).

I'm not really sure in this case what the 'prize' should be....you would have the pride of being the one who created the name, of course, but I suspect some will want additional incentives....so let me know.

Lastly, the contest should be run over a short period - like a 2 day contest. Let's say all entries should be in by midnight Friday, March 3, European time.

I should also say that I might decide on a name not suggested in the contest - but hopefully there will be better suggestions than what I've come up with so far.

Thanks for your great support and enthusiasm - Planet Z members rank #1 !!!

regards,
John Bowen

I happen to like " The www.sumofallsynths.com domain name, and I'll be happy w/ all the shit you got laying around that we never hear. Synths, presets, etc. It is afterall your history we love here, and your future. I pray you punish your competitors w/ your new quest. I look forward to sharing your victories.

Wow, that is a lot of years of building up a name, and then leaving it. If you change your domain, please do yourself the favour of keeping the old one and let it redirect to the new site.

1) You want all the people who goes to the usual site to be able to find you.

2) You don't want someone less skilled to overtake the domain and exploit it and at the same time damaging your own reputation.

John, simply use your name, that it is already a brand of guarantee, just like Mr.Neve, Mr.Moog... and Mr.SSL (no, ssl, no, just kidding  )
You should capitalize your professional history with the use of your name.
Do you can explain better on PlanetZ your new company project ?
Do you will continue with Creamware DSP stuff or it is for new hardware?
Thanks, I'm very courious. :)
4PC + Scope 5.0 + no more Xite + 2xScope Pro + 6xPulsarII + 2xLunaII + SDK + a lot of devices (Flexor III & Solaris 4.1 etc.) + Plugiator.

"Bow Wave"

Um, like the wave left by a ship, or a standing wave :-)

"zoïdal" by John Bowen sounds great for me for these reasons :

- refers to sinusoïdal (audio signals....)
- the ï is great when it come to identification/logo creation (e.g. a big ï or Z would be easy to see on music gear which is important to become famous)
- a short name easy to pronouce in many languages
- the AL end sounds fat and strong
- .... available in .com !!!

I had thought of a similar concept...

True Audio Labs.

otherwise Bowen Labs. That's a "Name" after all...

garyB that sounds really nice!

I keep it as a brainstorming:
what about Realwave Technology

http://www.realwave.com/

or:

Virtual Analog Circuits - VAC

-> connection to VCA
-> connection to Sequential Circuits

cheers
