AGP graphics cards - any good ones for Second Life?

Post by geoffd99 »

Hi all
I am trying to use Second Life, I have a Radeon 7000 AGP dual monitor card, this is not good enough. I am finding it very hard to find a high spec AGP card with 2 monitor output (for 2 x Samsungs TFTs).

My Scope seup is 1 x P2, and a rocket booster. I have a spare PCI but don't want to mess up my stable Scope. I am happy with my Radeon 7000, but it is a bit old (for SLife).

PS I will set up a Scope forum in Second Life - if anyone thinks that is a good idea! (perhaps there is one there already, I can't get in!)

This is the SLife spec:

Video/Graphics Card**:

* nVidia GeForce FX 5600, GeForce 6600, or better
* OR ATI Radeon 9600, X600, or better

Second Life may not run on graphics/video cards other than the ones listed above. Unfortunately, if your graphics card includes any of the following words, it's NOT compatible with Second Life:

* nVidia cards that report as a RIVA TNT or TNT2
* ATI cards that report as RAGE or RAGE PRO
* ATI cards that report as RADEON 320M, 340M, 345M, or similar model numbers
* Intel
* Intel Extreme
* 3DFX
* RIVA
* TNT
* SiS
* S3
* S3TC
* Savage
* Twister
* Rage
* Kyro
* MILENNIA
* most cards by MATROX

The following cards have not been tested with Second Life, and compatibility is not certain:

* nVidia cards that report as Quadro
* ATI cards that report as RADEON IGP or RADEON XPRESS
* ATI cards that report as FireGL
* ATI cards that report as FireMV

Any ideas for AGP dual head, fast, cards. From the SL notes, it seems nvidia are the most reliable.

Thanks
Geoff
