Will the SCOPE 4.5 sofware also work with a DUAL CORE INTEL proccessor?
So will it use both cores?

I have installed the new board now... Should i also install windows using the STANDARD PC option? does this not affect the speed regarding the dualcor processor?

the speed increase isn't due to the 2 cores but for the huge cache of that CPU and a (possibly) faster main memory access, at least that's my humble impression...

intel core2(conroe) work extremely well with scope.

In fact it's 2MB per core in some chips - so a total of 4MB L2 cache. This is definitely the main reason why it's fast. I'm still more than happy with my single-core AMD64 3700+

Conroe models from 6600 an up have 4MB cache, while 6300/6400 have 2MB.

6600 is aprox. 30% faster than my previous AMD64 3200, when utilizing only one core.

Don't install in Standard PC mode -- it doesn't work with multiprocessing. Use the ACPI Multiprocessing mode instead.

The main power of core2:

Vectror-calculations can be done in one cycle.
(Pentuim4 needs 4, D9xx needs 2 cycles)
That makes my Core2 Duo almost twice as fast as my D930

....but my room stays fresh if it is could ouside

thanks Andre, good to know - yet the 'general' performance increse is even more stunning.
I ran the same program (data processing, no io, only CPU/memory) on a P4/2.6G and a CoreDuo 1.6 (no mp optimizations).
The latter was about 40% faster, and that was a Mac Mini - with the 'lame' version of the CPU

I had no luck setting up a system with 3 Scope boards and ASUS P5B.
Perfect performance with 2 boards, anyway..

dude - and I was about to order the Asus last week... but something made me cancel the order by phone just a couple of minutes later

What problems did you exactly run across with 3 boards? It sounds a bit strange....

I'm a pure scope user for processing and sound generation, I only track and midize in Cubase, so I don't need all that power, while I need to run 3 boards, but I'm still on a 815e chipset that runs great but I'd like some more ram....

If you could report exactly your issues...any link I missed?

Is it related with a specifical slot? What if you remove the 1st board and leave the other two?

Like you say it seems a faulty mobo, it's too strange.

All 3 boards,3 x 15DSP, 2 of which were Type I SRB's, worked fine except when I would load giant Solaris presets w/ 8 voices. It works better with smaller Solaris pres., but when I would load up Creamware synths, i.e. Prodyssey, Pro 12, Minimax, Modular, B2003, STM1632 w/ AUX's and PsyQ for Gigastudio 3, and Softclip, it worked w/o optimisation windows, with all synths at 8 voice polyphony. My Solaris pres can get really big. But the Conroe gave me double the Gigapulse convolution reverb instances, 8, which is great for having resonant body impulses on my acoustic samples, and all different ones at that, i.e. Ac. Guitar, Upright Pno., Grand Pno., and all of my Origins sample library which are awesome acoustic instruments of yore. However I found that using 2 cards, instead of three is my preference. Multiple DAW's is where it is at for maximum DSP usage. Very small difference when the third card was added. I use 8 voice polyphony on all synths, so that's why Solaris will share a DAW with Cubase 4, and Gigastudio VST ( GVI ).
My current DAW's are all Intel.

D865PERL w/ 3.0 GHz Northwood 2 x 15 DSP's
DP965LT w/ E6400 1 x 15 DSP, 1 x 6 DSP ( SFP custom mixers and FX )
DP965LT w/E6700 2 x 15 DSP's Cubase 4 / VSTi's / Gigastudio VST

The fourth will be the same as the SFP mixer DAW . But with 2 x 6 DSP's. Live drums / GVI triggers. I believe a guy in Germany uses SFP DAW for live drumming. I can only imagine the fun my drummer will have next year. Wireless Ear Monitors, and an SFP DAW w/ Gigastudio 3 VST to add to his acoustic kit.

I knop that SFP will last at least 3 more years in it's current state, maybe more.
So I am going to enjoy evry gig till it is no longer suppoted. That's right, I am an old Scope BASTARD!!! Proud of it too!!!
I hope to build that one in December after financial ROI's.

I see you are using DP965LT.
Could you please provide some info which PCI slots your scope cards are using?
Is there any chance getting their irq's unshared without disabling usb ports?

you don't have to disable usb ports, but you do have to disable a usb controller or two.(all ports still work)

the 3 board causes problems....
tested on asus wd 2 and asus p5b...
