Hi my name is kc, i'm new on this forum and i could use some information.
I'm configurating a pc for musical purpose's, and i would like to know in wich slot of my motherboard (intel D865PERL ) i should put my SCOPE HOME in.
My only reference is the middle one.
Is there anyone outthere who would take the time to give me a suiteable answer please? I'll be in your debt forever.

I have this same mobo, version D865PRLL.

I have a Luna/Home card in PCI slot 2, and IRQ 22. It has an unique IRQ, unshared.
I also have a Scope Pro card in PCI slot 5, IRQ 18. Shared with Ultra ATA storage controllers (that's OK, says Gary

I had to study the D865PERL manual in order to understand what's it all about.
And try several combinations until it was ok.

I have disabled (in BIOS) everything I don't use:
Serial Port (COM), Printer Port (LPT), Audio (AC97), LAN, Diskette drive.
And all those USBs I do not use.

And I have optimized Xp a la Black Viper (www.dead-eye.net/WinXP%20Services.htm)
and Music Xp.net (www.musicxp.net)

I have HT enabled and Windows is workin in ACPI mode.
My computer is just for music, so it's not connected to Internet. I have no antivirus program either (I have another machine for office work, and virus killing).

It took a little time and effort but now everything is working ok.

However, your situation may be different from mine. Depends on what else you have installed.
What works for me might not work for you. i don't think there are any hard rules.

You have to try and find the best combination.

slot 3 or 4 should be fine. all the slots will work, actually.
you need to turn off all ports that you will not use in the bios and you may need to disable one of the 4 usb controllers in the device manager(all ports will still work) to avoid irq sharing.

to find out which controller, if any to disable use the conflicts/sharing dialog in the hardware rsources section of system information in accessories/system tools. if there's a shared irq with the scope card, you'll see the irq# and the name of the device that's sharing. you can try moving the card to another slot or, if you can't get a free irq that way and the device sharing an irq with the scope card is a usb controller, look for the name of the the controller (i.e. 2DE7) and then go to the device manager inside control panel/system and disable that controller. then close and reopen system information to verify that you now have no shared irqs with the scope card.
