I have a Tascam FW-1884. I am curious if I were to buy another Firewire input device, such as the Tascam Rack unit, or one of the many other devices out there, will I be able to input an additional 8 channels (16 total) into my DAW (Nuendo)? Or can you only run one input device at a time?

I have read about a software driver utility that allows multiple firewire devices to work at the same time, but is this really necessary?

Also, if there is a way to expand the inputs on the FW-1884 already, let me know. I know the manual says that you can have 18 inputs at one time, but they seem to be broken up by 8 analog, 8 ADAT, and 2 SPDIF. Perhaps an alternative would be to get an input device that has an ADAT out?

I don't know, any thoughts and help is appreciated.

Thank you.

Add a 8 chanels ad/da converter with adat on it... For example on the cheap side : Behringer ADA8000

And BTW, it's a creamware forum here, not a tascam one...

It's not planetz's fault if all the other manufacturers clients think it's brilliant.

Brotha'Man MarcusPocus,
Is the Behringer a good choice 4 live performance? I'm thinking it wouldn't be much of a quality difference 4 live work. I would prefer something different 4 recording, but usually there are a lot of AD converters in most studios. Let them buy the Apogees. What say you on the idea.
