AMD Still Rules In 64 Bit Apps
No need to wait 4 that. 4 325 USD you can get in the door and have the best dual core 32 bit machine available. The RAM will be the most expensive peice of hardware, other than your DSP cards. SFP worked well with Nuendo in a multithreaded enviroment. I am only getting this because of the need 4 a VST host. Otherwise I would have no use at my gig 4 dual core, 4 SFP w/GS3 pretty much cover many formats 4 me. I will be getting into difficulty because of the IRQ thing, maybe. As I will be using 3 DSP 15's on a 3 PCI 32 bit mobo, the Intel DP965LT. With help from GaryB, I should be fine. I saw SFP/Nuendo work on a Luna card, so that means it works, but my set up will be very different. I am sure of one thing though, This E6700 is one fast MOFO. Knocked the doors off a Dual Opteron / Tyan combo. That was enough 4 me, as I am not concerned about OC'ing and all that shit. I just want Intels new version of the famous D865PERL, and I think that I've got it. I will be posting all failures/sucsesses that I encounter with this new beast. I meant to say that if you buy the cheapest Conroe, just make sure to buy an Abit, or Asus board to OC' the living daylights out of it. As the slowest Conroes will give you an extra 700MHz w/o any additional cooling. My E6700 ( 2.66GHz ) was OCd' to 3.3GHz just by the FSB alone! So from what I've read, we can expext alot from this new peice of work from Intel.

No offense to the benchmarkers of the world, but I only trust what I see. My friends feelings were hurt by the performance of the Conroe, so he had to show me some weaknesses to feel better about his huge investment. and in some 64bit apps AMD, especially in the video/editing scenario, the Conroe was behind in the finishing of certain projects. Although it was a BETA O.S., the facts don't lie. But I could care less about video, I love music, and that's where the Conroe smokes 'em, 32 bit audio apps.
