Hi,
Local shop are selling Lacie USB 250 GB external hard drives, so just wanted some feedback. I have read mixed reviews about them. Such as get far too hot, not reliable and general disappointment. Some people seemed happy enough, but the majority weren't so favourable. Anyone out there have the Lacies?
By the way please don't tell me to get a firewire drive, I only want to buy this drive to store data (a second backup device).
Thanks
Lacie USB 250 GB External Hard Drive Question
Look this:

The Icy Box is fanless (very quiet!), aluminium enclosure for a perfect heat dissipation, USBII or/and Firewire and IDE and/or SATA version available.
You can buy this and put inside every HD U wish and is obviously free upgradable.
I have 2 of this and I can say that this is a top class product, good project and good design (and cheaper than Lacie).
Keep in mind that Lacie external HD are a little hot and hard sealed, so not easy upgradable in time.
My 2 cents.

It looks very interesting. How did you get your hands on one living in Italy? I guess then that all I have to do is put in a hard disk of my choice and away I go? I hope it is straightforward and not complicated. On 2006-04-26 14:53, erminardi wrote:

Ciao, gli italiani possono trovare qui il prodotto, o eventualmente cercare su kelkoo la frase: "Icy box - Ib-360".

It's easy to use and upgrade: only 2 screw, plug ATA or SATA cable and power cable. On 2006-04-27 05:03, Atomic Marshmallow wrote:

Almost all HD are compatible i.e Maxtor >300Gb
4PC + Scope 5.0 + no more Xite + 2xScope Pro + 6xPulsarII + 2xLunaII + SDK + a lot of devices (Flexor III & Solaris 4.1 etc.) + Plugiator.
