After doing some research here in the techforum, I've bought a Gigabyte K8NSC-939 and Athlon 64 3200 to upgrade my current ASUS A7N8X/Athlon XP2600 setup.
Are there any things I need to keep in mind when installing this new system? From the thread a bit below this one I conclude that I don't really have to worry about standard pc mode anymore and can just install as ACPI right?
Can aynone tell me which slots on this mobo should I be using for my 2 Creamware cards?

I tried Standard PC with that board and the nVidia drivers didn't work. I think you have to install as ACPI. Don't worry, it works great.

thanks. I've installed it normally (so with ACPI) and everything is working fine. This must have been the easiest upgrade i've ever done

And it's so much faster, and somehow a lot quieter too! I haven't installed my Creamware cards yet. Shayne, can you tell me which slots i should use, or doesn't it matter?

I always find it's necessary to try a card in each slot to check what IRQ it uses. I often find that slots 1 and 5 share with each other, and 3 or 4 usually has a unique IRQ. I'm using slots 1, 3 and 5 in my Nforce3 DFI board.

Thanks, I've put them in 1 and 5 and they share irq 18. It looks like this upgrade has solved my problems with PCI overflow errors while loading reverbs as well!
Happy Happy Joy Joy!

Yep I was astounded with my Nforce3 setup, not only for PCI but also for improving the responsiveness of the Scope app. It works as fast as a normal Windows app now

I never had such speed or stability with any intel system I've used.

Hmm, well it seems i was too hasty with my conclusion about the PCI error, since it seems to have returned. I guess the old Pulsar I board is really the weak link in that aspect...
*edit*
now that i've added a Pulsar II to my setup i haven't seen the PCI error return o/
