Is there any difference if a Scope card is connected to A16 Ultra thru ADAT connections instead of Z-Link?
I have a Scope Pro Plus card and it has ADAT connectors but no Z-Link.

The only difference is a) the ADAT cables are difficult to deal with, and b) 96KHz operation reduces the number of ADAT channels by half. Z-Link can have the same number of channels in both 44.1 and 96 modes.

and zlink is slightly more jitter free. the a16 with adat works just great!

Thank you for your replies.
I have a Scope Home (Luna) card and I got a Scope Pro+ card. I'm thinking of expanding the set further with a A16 (in order to get balanced I/O, etc), and one more 14DPS card.
I try to build an 'optimal' and well working system, as long as it is possible, as long as I have the money and as long as the components are available.
Should I get a 14DSP Booster card or should I get a 14DSP card Z-Link version?
The price difference is neglible but is there , however.
I don't think I need lots of I/O, but the differencies between ADAT and Z-Link make it hard to decide.
CW manuals show 14DSP boards interconnected with 3 or 5 S/TDM connecors. These S/TDM's have proved to be a bit difficult to obtain.
How many S/TDM's is optimal, and why?

one stdm is sufficient. some systems work better with 3, i think it's a matter of what kind of plugins you tend to load up on...
i would DEFINETLY get the card with i/o. you never know when the additional i/o will be helpful....

Thanks garyb and at0m.
Gary, when I buy my next card, it will be a card with i/o (Z-Link).

the only other consideration is: do you have a wordclock? the a16u doesn't like being slave to a wordclock if you're working with z-link.
a16u / adat works fine with wordclock.
$35!

Johann, I don't have a word clock. I don't have any other digital I/O audio equipment than my computer. So I haven't thought I'd need a word clock.
I plan to expand my CW set (Luna/Home and 14DSP Plus) and that's why I asked about 14DSP Booster vs. 14DSP Z-link card.
Also on my list I have the A16U because it has balanced audio I/O's.
It will be a replacement for the Luna 2496 box I have. I'm now having hum problems in my small and crammed up home studio.

by next to nothing
those hum problems might be something else, no? its a typical error with grounding errors, badly fitted cards etc.
maybe you should try getting rid of those first?

Piddi, the hum problems, yeah. I think I know how to avoid and how to get rid of them. Actually I did put up my system very quickly, eager to get it working

.
I'm familiar with these kinds of problems, from the HiFi side of electronics. (An old dog now. Toyed with electronics since the end of 50's)
Somehow I like to prefer the A16U as an overall better solution.
Retaining the Luna would save me money, of course. I have to think about it, yes.
It's tempting to be able to put up a top CW system now, when I have got several components already, and when I can afford fully expanding it.
