maybe a stupid question, but what can I use from pc in a apple?
I know my Scope boards and Cubase SX are OK, but what about my graphiccards, screens, memory and even CD(DVD)romplayers.
I know I'll have to change my Cubase VST(with the old printer poort dongle), I don't know about Gigastudio and cool edit, how does it work on a mac? Can I still use tools like partion magic,Ghost etc?

thanks.

check the websites of your hard- and software to see if it supports mac OS9 (Creamware doesn't allow OSX...)
You'll loose some programs you are familiar with.

there is no gigastudio, there is no ghostmagic (but there are some similar apps). PC graphics cards don't work with macs, memory - depends on which mac and which what memory (my machine is driven with PC HDDs, a PC DVD burner, PC memory sticks (SDRAM 133MHz, but newer Scope compatible Macs use DDR300Mhz), I have a PC mouse (USB), a PC LCD monitor

no partitionmagic (you don't need that on a Mac anyway) and no CoolEdit either.
The screens are usable of course, depending on the connector type an adapter may be required.
Graphcards don't work (the byte order at the slot connector is reversed), but some can be 'flashed' to Mac versions (if the supplier supports the same model on both platforms)
Memory can be very critical depending on the machine. The latest models ('silver door' dual G4) are horror in this context - they use the type as PCs and even run without complaining, but sooner or later you'll run into wierd problems.

If you want to change now, I'd still suggest the Quicksilver model (NOT the mirror door), but I'd rather wait till mid/end of january 2006 when Apple is expected to reveal facts about it's upcoming Intel based machines.

cheers, tom
