I recently upgraded my system to an AMD athlon 64 and naturally i installed win xp 64 bit in order to utilise the processors full potential...but alas when i began installing SFP 4.0 the setup told me it cannot install the driver and referred me to how i should install it manually (needless to say that didnt work either)
My guess is driver incompatability with the new 64 bit OS so the question is: is there a CW fix for the problem and if not is such a fix emminent?

Gary's answer hit the nail on the head - 64 bit is marketing hype for one and business efficiency for two, as M$ want's to get rid of the copro stuff to simplify their compilers
at least the latter is the only (realworld) practical usage of that sh*t

ps the Athlon 64 is fast because it's a modern CPU, not because of a few bits more or less

I thought I read something about some people using it and saying they could get more reverbs.

in fact, if the chipset has a good data throughput, that's what you would expect - but noone gets any more instances because something is adressed in 64 bits.
imho it's not even necessary if you want to move data over a 64 bit wide bus, as any modern slot technology is serial anyway and your preferred sound source will remain 32bit for quite some time...

I read it.
For your convenience:
Pros: Full support for 64-bit processors; 64-bit application support (if you can find them); good performance with 32-bit apps.
Cons: No 16-bit application support; spotty driver support; dearth of 64-bit apps.
Summary: It's more of a curiousity than a useful OS for the majority of desktop users, since most Windows 64-bit development seems to be targeted towards Windows Vista.
